Real Housewives of New York has returned! NYC’s It girl Brynn Whitfield was at the center of pretty much all of it. As usual, the drama arose from miscommunication. The women fought over Uber rides and podcast confessions while wearing head-to-toe designer looks and sipping on overpriced cocktails. It was perfection.
Here is everything that happened on Real Housewives of New York Season 15, Episode 1 aptly titled, “Apple of My Lie.”
New beginnings on Real Housewives of New York
It’s been almost a year since we last saw the RHONY ladies. Since then, the group’s undergone some big changes. The friendship dynamics in the group are completely different from last season, but more on that later…
Tonight’s episode began with Brynn moving into her new apartment in Gramercy Park with her new adorable puppy, Sugar. Her brother, Daris, assisted her in the move from the West Village.
While Brynn was settling in, Jessel Taank was busy embarking on a new adventure of her own-taking the subway. The Londoner admitted she was not familiar with the MTA, confessing she had only taken it one or two times. Despite her horror, she bravely boarded the train to accompany her husband Pavit to one of his favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Chinatown. It turns out, that Pavit’s infamous trip to Vietnam inspired him to become a food influencer. Jessel confessed she wasn’t enthused about her husband’s new hobby, stating in a confessional, “I married a banker. How the hell am I married to a food influencer all of a sudden?”
At the restaurant, Jessel brought up the sensitive topic of having another kid. Fans will remember that Pavit was not open to the idea last season. Well, nothing has changed. He still doesn’t want another baby.
Jessel and Pavit may not be expanding their pod but Ubah Hassan is seriously considering it. During a lunch with Erin Lichy and new “friend of” Rebecca Minkoff, Ubah revealed that she and her boyfriend Oliver are exploring having a family. How cute!
Shifting friendships on Real Housewives of New York
In tonight’s episode, we learned the friendship dynamics are quite different than last season. During lunch with Ubah and Rebecca, Erin revealed she had not spoken to Brynn in a while. The rift between the two stemmed from Erin’s appearance on Jeff Lewis’s podcast. He asked Erin if she thought a man was assisting Brynn financially. Erin said no but Brynn felt she didn’t do enough to shut the conversation down. Erin said she apologized but Brynn seemed to be holding onto a bit of resentment in tonight’s episode.
Brynn isn’t the only cast member Erin has beef with. In one scene, Jenna Lyons was helping Brynn pick out a couch when the ladies started talking about Erin. Brynn told Jenna that Erin commented on her financial situation. Here’s what went down. They were in the Hamptons and Jenna’s car broke down. Erin offered to get her an Uber and Jenna never paid her back. Jenna told Brynn she confronted Erin about the situation. According to her, Erin denied Brynn’s claim that she called Jenna poor. In a confessional, Erin said she may have overdramatized the story because she’s “a storyteller.” Lol. I guess it’s her word against Brynn’s at this point.
Tonight’s episode also featured a cute scene with Jessel and Sai de Silva. They have repaired their friendship since last season. The two women took a trip to the spa where they plunged into ice-cold bath water together. Yeah, that’s not my ideal girl’s day but it’s not my place to judge. During the plunge, Sai revealed she and Brynn have not repaired their friendship since the reunion. She noted that she barely sees or hears from her former friend. Yikes. She also said she isn’t on great terms with Jenna.
Racquel Chevrement is the new girl in town …
Back at Jenna’s apartment, we were introduced to newbie Racquel Chevrement. I’m obsessed with her. Not only is she a badass art curator but she also has amazing style and rides motorcycles. She and Jenna rehashed their coming-out stories, which was fun to watch. Jenna was so reserved in the first season but she seems to really feel at home with Racquel.
Racquel spoke about her fiancé and how her mom was not super supportive when she came out. I’m looking forward to getting to know more about the new cast member as the season progresses.
Party at The Fleur room
The most dramatic fight of the episode occurred at Brynn’s party The Fleur Room. The women slowly realized that the culprit behind all the rumors in the group stemmed from Miss Brynn Whitfield. Erin asked Jenna who told her about the “poor” comment. She said Brynn. Sai then found out Brynn was the one who said Sai said she hated Jenna. The women confronted Brynn, which led to a big fight that ended with Brynn leaving her party in tears.
If you missed anything, don’t fret! Real Housewives of New York is currently streaming on Peacock.
