Imagine being on live television and finding out that your on-screen bestie got arrested alongside her husband. That’s what happened to Candiace Dillard Bassett during a segment on Fox 5’s Good Day DC. The Real Housewives of Potomac alum showed up to promote her new podcast and to dish on her life as a new mom, but the breaking news about Wendy Osefo and Eddie Osefo’s arrest threw the segment into a tailspin. Candiace Dillard Bassett wonders if Wendy and Eddie Osefo were “targeted”
Candiace’s segment on the October 10 edition of Good Day DC started off with positive vibes. She and the hosts were having a lighthearted interview when the jaw-dropping news about the Osefos dropped.
As the host read through the breaking news, you could hear Candiace getting emotional. The reaction wasn’t quite as dramatic as when the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City learned about Jen Shah’s arrest, but Candiace was definitely “shaking.”
Candiace said, “I am floored. I am shocked. I am sad.”
The allegations stem from the Osefos report of a 2024 home burglary, where they claimed their thieves made off with thousands of dollars in luxury goods. Of course, they’re innocent until proven guilty, but Candiace suggested that perhaps they’ve become a target due to the thriving Happy Eddie cannabis line. She also referenced Karen Huger’s recent jail time, suggesting that someone might be “out to get the girls.”
“We know that the Osefos have a very successful marijuana business. They’re providing jobs and opportunities for people of color in the DMV area, so my first thought is, are they being targeted? Is this something that we should be thinking about?”
“I know her family, and I’m heartbroken,” she continued. “I have chills. I’m shaking because I can’t imagine.”
In the meantime, the Osefos have asked for privacy as they navigate their legal drama. They’re out of jail, and hopefully enjoying some Happy Eddie while they weigh their options.
