One former American Idol contestant was recently arrested due to charges concerning a domestic violence incident. Reportedly, the singer had also been facing various legal troubles in recent years. Notably, the singer had also made it to the top 16 during their time on American Idol.
The American Idol Contestant Had Previously Appeared On One Of The Competition Show’s Earlier Seasons
A contestant who appeared during one of the earlier seasons of American Idol has recently found themselves in legal trouble. The contestant had reportedly been arrested over charges concerning domestic violence.
The singer had gained prominence after appearing on the sixth season of the competition series. Reportedly, they had previously served prison time over a drug charge.

According to TMZ, the contestant was identified as Antonella Barba. She had reportedly been picked up by the Pt. Pleasant Beach Police Department in New Jersey this past Sunday night.
Barba had allegedly been picked up during a vehicle stop. Reportedly, a rep for the U.S. Marshalls shared that there was a warrant out for her arrest on a domestic violence charge from two weeks prior. Her federal probation was allegedly violated due to the new charge.
According to records, Barba was released from the Essex County Correctional Facility by Tuesday. She will be on home detention with electronic monitoring until her upcoming court hearing.
At this time, it was reported that Barba was already spent quite a considerable amount of time behind bars. Reportedly, she previously was found guilty of possessing 400 grams or more of fentanyl with an intent to distribute. She had been released from prison in October 2021. However, she remains of five years of supervised release.
The American Idol Alum’s Court Hearing Is Scheduled For Later This Month
In 2022, Barba notably gotten in trouble after a probation officer said he discovered she moved out of an approved residence during a home visit. Following this, she agreed to be placed on a curfew and wear an electronic ankle bracelet.
In 2024, the singer was reportedly involved with a domestic violence incident concerning her and her former partner, identified as “K.H.” At the time, the partner had been accused of punching Barba in the face. The singer was reportedly required to get stitches over the attack.
According to the probation officer, Barbaa was then kicked out of a domestic violence shelter earlier this year. She had allegedly violated the shelter’s location by sharing it with K.H.
Barba and K.H. were allegedly involved in two other incidents this past February. These incidents reportedly involved with Rutherford Police Department and East Orange Police Department.
At this time, Barba has been ordered to cut off all contact with her former partner and family as part of her house arrest agreement. In addition, her upcoming court hearing is scheduled for April 29.
During her previous appearance on American Idol, she auditioned with Deniece Williams’ 1976 single “Free.” Appearing on the sixth season, she was eliminated after making it to the top 16. The season notably saw Jordin Sparks as the winner, with Blake Lewis as the runner-up.
