Several reactions criticized the comedic direction. One post read, “its not horror or terror it’s comedy my friends,” while another added, “It’s not scary.” A different viewer called it “one of the worst trailers I have ever seen.” Some supported the style, writing, “We need more comedy/horror. This looks so ridiculous but good, and if there was any way to reboot Anaconda, this was it.”

Other responses addressed the casting. A user stated, “Will not be spending a single cent on this. I have not forgotten what Jack Black said, something like ‘don’t miss next time.’ Shame on you all for giving him the role.” Another added jokingly, “Best Movie. Best actor Best other actor. Best Actress. Soundtrack of the Year. And Steve Zahn. I’m calling it right now.”

j/k – It looks like fun. And Anaconda was due for a little more mockery for casting Jon Voight as a Paraguayan snake hunter

Paul Rudd plays Griff and Jack Black plays Doug, two aspiring filmmakers who attempt to reboot Anaconda themselves. Directed by Tom Gormican and co-written with Kevin Etten, the film also stars Thandie Newton, Steve Zahn, Selton Mello, and Daniela Melchior.

Anaconda will open exclusively in theatres on December 25, 2025.
