BTS made their long-awaited return to the stage on Saturday with BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG, a 60-minute global live performance streamed on Netflix from Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square.
Staged at one of the city’s most symbolic landmarks, the event drew 104,000 fans in person, setting the record for the largest-ever public concert in South Korea previous. PSY previously set the attendance record in 2012 with a free outdoor concert at Seoul City Hall that drew an estimated crowd of between 80,000 and 100,000 people.

BTS’s performance supported the group’s new album ARIRANG and featured the live debuts of numerous songs from the release, including “Body to Body,” “Hooligan,” “2.0,” and “Like Animals.” The 12-song setlist also included several past favorites such as “Butter,” “MIC Drop,” “Dynamite,” and “Mikrokosmos.” Notably, RM performed a majority of the show from a stool after suffering a ankle sprain during pre-show rehearsals.

Though not officially considered a part of BTS’s upcoming world tour, it did serve as a warm-up of sorts. The trek officially launches in just two weeks in Goyang-si, South Korea, with the first North American leg kicking off in late April. BTS’s promotional campaign in support of ARIRANG continues this week with a pair of appearances on The Tonight Show. A new documentary chronicling the making of their new album is also set to premiere globally on Netflix beginning March 27th.
