Chappell Roan has confronted people who follow her around in public, and said that it bothers her to see them “disregarding my boundaries”.
The singer was seen surrounded by a hoard of people in Paris recently as she was in the city to attend Paris Fashion Week, and in one instance, she pulled out her phone and began filming to show what it was like for her on a regular basis.
In a video taken by an onlooker that began making the rounds online yesterday (Monday March 9), Roan filmed herself in selfie mode as she was trying to go to a restaurant, and showed how she was circled by fans and photographers as soon as she left her car.
“I’m just trying to go to dinner, and I’ve asked these people several times to get away from me,” she said on the video, before turning the camera to film some of the people who were still stood around her.
“This person I’ve asked several times to go away, and they will not… They’re hiding their face, because they’re ashamed,” she said, filming one fan, who waved to the camera and still kept asking for an autograph, despite what she was saying.
Roan went on to add: “[I feel] disregarded as a human… These are all the people that are completely disregarding my boundaries,” before addressing the people again and asking for some space.

“All of you, I’m asking you kindly to please leave me alone and stop following me and harassing me. No, I’m not gonna sign,” she said, before talking to the camera and adding: “This is what it’s like, if you were wondering how it is.”
This isn’t the only time that the former NME Cover star has called out intrusive behaviour from fans and paparazzi either. Back in 2024 she divided opinions when she compared fame to “an abusive ex-husband” and vented about the normalisation of extreme fan behaviour including “stalking, talking shit online, [people who] won’t leave you alone, yelling at you in public.”
Prior to that, she had taken to TikTok to share her thoughts on “weird” and “creepy” followers, calling out the “predatory behaviour” of so-called “superfans” that includes “nonconsensual physical and social interactions”, and also hit back at photographers who yelled at her on the VMAs red carpet.
Her statements have since been applauded by celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, Rachel Zegler, and Daniel Craig, the latter saying he admires “the guts to say those things”. Olivia Rodrigo also revealed that Roan has been a key support figure in helping her deal with an “overwhelming” entertainment industry.
She also doubled down on her stance last year too, and defended her decision to set boundaries with fans despite some people accusing her of being ungrateful.
“I know it really hurts people… they feel like it’s me disrespecting them or I owe it to them, or how dare I call it abuse. Or that I’m complaining about success, I get that a lot… but I’m not complaining about success, I’m just complaining about creepy behaviour,” she said. “I just don’t want you to interrupt me when I’m having a fight with a girlfriend and I’m crying… that’s crazy.”
The singer hasn’t released any new material since she dropped ‘The Giver’ and ‘The Subway’ as singles last year, and since then she has dropped her talent agency after its CEO faced backlash for his email correspondence with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell over 20 years ago.
Chappell Roan has also responded to those who have criticised the NSFW red carpet outfit she wore to the Grammys last month. There, she was nominated for Record Of The Year and Best Solo Performance for ‘The Subway’.
