Cheryl Hines has responded to the sexting incident between her husband RFK Jr. and journalist Olivia Nuzzi. The 60-year-old Curb Your Enthusiasm actress finally addressed the scandal in a not-yet-released episode of The Katie Killer Podcast, per Politico, and how it impacted her relationship with the Health and Human Services Secretary at the time. This comes amid the upcoming memoir “American Canto” written by Nuzzi that reportedly discloses racy texts between the pair.
Hines says Nuzzi brought “more chaos and more rumors”
Nuzzi shared in September 2024 with The New York Times that the communication between and RFK Jr. had “turned personal” earlier that year while she was a political writer covering his presidential campaign for New York Magazine. The journalist was immediately placed on leave as the scandal came to light and only recently came back to the public as a writer for Vanity Fair and as the author for her upcoming book.
On the podcast, Hines describes the period of time that the scandal happened as hectic. “Bobby had been running for president and it was an exhausting year-and-a-half of headlines and rumor and articles and chaos,” she explains. So when she learned about the texting scandal, she thought at the time, “Okay, this is more chaos and more rumors.”
The actress then questions how the scandal started and what Nuzzi’s “intentions” are. “I think you always have to consider the source, right? So that’s where I start,” she said. “And then it ends with a conversation with Bobby.”
“I don’t know this person, don’t know their intentions. I could guess, but I won’t. But you can if you want.”
Hines and RFK Jr. had remained relatively quiet about the scandal, refusing to comment on the subject in an August interview with The Wall Street Journal.
Earlier in October, the actress defended her husband’s credentials in a heated interview on The View.
