Let the speculation begin. The “Untitled Event Film” Warner Bros had dated for December 2026 now is being billed as a “Denis Villeneuve Event Film,” and sources said the studio and Legendary are holding the date with expectations that he wraps up the spectacular trilogy with Dune 3.
Hurdles still have to be cleared as they’re still working on script and locking cast, but it is the project Villenueve has been working on.
The studio and producer also has set a March 26, 2027, date for their other major franchise, the next installment of the Godzilla-Kong saga. Right now, no comment from Warner Bros or Legendary, but stay tuned for more.

Dune: Part Two starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya is the biggest live-action film of 2024, raking in $282.1 million domestic and $711.4 million worldwide since its May 1 release. It led Warner Bros to become the first studio to top $1 billion worldwide this year, doing it in studio-record time.
