Dancing With The Stars premiered on ABC in 2005. Soap star Kelly Monaco won the first season over actor John O’Hurley. TV fans joke that almost every actor has appeared on an episode of NBC’s Law & Order franchise. But nearly every D-list celebrity and below has been on Dancing With The Stars, including Kim Kardashian, Lisa Vanderpump, and supermodel Christie Brinkley, to name a few.
The popular celebrity dance competition returns this fall for Season 34. But fans are livid over the most recent news about the upcoming season. Keep reading to find out what’s happening with the dance competition.
Movie Star Reportedly ‘In Talks’ To Join Dancing With The Stars
Dancing With The Stars will air on Tuesdays this fall because of ABC’s football schedule. A new season of The Golden Bachelor dating show airs on Wednesdays. Premiere dates haven’t been set for either show, but the DWTS cast is slowly coming together.
ABC has revealed the names of four contestants who will compete on the upcoming season. The first celebrity announced was Robert Irwin, the son of the famed late ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin.
The next Season 34 contestants revealed were TikToker Alix Earle, followed by two stars of Hulu’s Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast, Whitney Leavitt and Jennifer Affleck. Each of the contestants will pair with a professional dance partner to try to win the coveted Mirrorball trophy. The pro dancers are usually revealed after the celebrity cast is revealed.

According to The U.S. Sun, ABC is in talks with a B-list actor to join Season 34. Dancing With The Stars is trying to lure actor Taylor Lautner to compete on the dance competition. He played Jacob Black in the Twilight movie franchise. The actor currently hosts a podcast with his wife, who is also named Taylor Lautner, but goes by ‘Tay.’
The outlet also revealed that a member of the headline-making Chrisley family might join the show. ABC is allegedly considering Savannah Chrisley as a contestant on the upcoming season. She’s reportedly been asked before but it never panned out. She recently made headlines after asking President Trump to pardon her parents, Julie and Todd Chrisley, which he did in May.
The Sun also reported that Zac Efron’s younger brother, Dylan, might join Season 34.
Fans Livid Over Recent Season 34 News
Dancing With The Stars fans don’t expect A-list celebrities to compete on the reality TV show. But the names released so far for Season 34 are underwhelming, to say the least. Livid fans took to social media to vent about the cast list, particularly the two Secret Lives stars.
Several fans responded to the casting news by saying they had to Google to find out who Whitney Leavitt and Jennifer Affleck were.
One fan wrote, “This show is shaping up to be a disaster if these are the big announcements.” Another added, “I’m not impressed with this at all.”
A third long-time Dancing With The Stars viewer worried about the show’s future. They wrote, “I’m starting to seriously worry about the future of DWTS. It seems like they’re struggling to find celebs willing to participate.”
Let us know in the comments if you agree that the cast list so far is disappointing.
