Casting announcement for Osgood Perkins’ The Young People for NEON: “NEON, the award-winning studio behind some of the most daring and celebrated films of the last nine years, announced today that Brendan Hines (“The Tick”), Cush Jumbo (“The Good Wife”), Heather Graham (Drugstore Cowboy), Johnny Knoxville (“Jackass”), Lexi Minetree (“Elle”), Lily Collias (Good One), and Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) have joined Osgood Perkins’ The Young People. Rounding out the ensemble cast, these new additions join previously announced cast members Lola Tung and Nico Parker. NEON will release the film theatrically in the U.S., is representing the international sales rights, and is co-financing with Lyrical Media. Producers include Perkins and his partner Chris Ferguson for Phobos and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Range.
While plot details are currently underwraps, production is underway in Vancouver.
Brendan Hines is an actor and singer-songwriter known for his versatility across television, film, and music. He gained recognition for his role as Eli Loker on the series “Lie to Me” and has since appeared in other notable television shows such as “Suits,” “Scandal,” “The Tick,” and “Locke & Key.” Most recently, Brendan is coming off a recurring arc on “Chicago Med.”
Cush Jumbo is a British Actress, Writer and Producer best known for “The Good Wife” and “Criminal Record”. She has received Olivier Award nominations for her performances in Julius Caesar and Hamlet, and in 2024, she starred as Lady Macbeth in the West End production of Macbeth.
Heather Graham’s early credits include Gus Van Sant’s Drugstore Cowboy, for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination; Boogie Nights, for which she received the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance; Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me; and The Hangover. Other credits include most recently Chosen Family, a film she wrote, directed, and starred in, Place of Bones, The Gunslingers, as well as the upcoming They Will Kill You and “Carrie.”
Johnny Knoxville is an actor and filmmaker best known as the co-creator and star of MTV’s “Jackass” and its subsequent films. Other film credits include Sweet Dreams, The Luckiest Man in America, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Bad Grandpa.
Lexi Minetree is an emerging actress who will play young Elle Woods in the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series “Elle.” Previous credits include “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and The Murdaugh Murders.
Lily Collias is an emerging actress known for her role in the acclaimed indie drama Good One. She first broke out in the film, Palm Trees and Power Lines, and can currently be seen in Derek Cianfrance’s Roofman, alongside Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum. She will next appear in the adaptation of “Cape Fear” with Amy Adams and Javier Bardem.
Tatiana Maslany can next be seen in NEON’s upcoming horror film Keeper and was also recently in NEON’s The Monkey, both directed by Osgood Perkins. Other upcoming credits include the series “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed,” “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” and The Only Living Pickpocket in New York. Past credits include “She-Hulk,” “Perry Mason,” and “Orphan Black,” which earned her an Emmy Award and nominations for a Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice Award.

The Young People is the first project under the first-look deal between NEON, Perkins, and his production banner Phobos and marks the pair’s latest collaboration following the success of Longlegs which was the highest grossing independent film of the year at $75 million domestically, and The Monkey which marked NEON’s second biggest opening weekend at the box office. The two are also partnering on Perkins’ next film, Keeper, which NEON is releasing on November 14.
NEON recently acquired rights to Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert and Steven Soderbergh’s The Christophers, both of which will be released in 2026. Other upcoming releases include Shelby Oaks, Keeper, and Arco with recent releases including Splitsville starring Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona, Sundance breakout film Together starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco, and Raoul Peck’s Orwell: 2+2=5. Five NEON films have been selected by their home countries as official selections for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards. This includes, Jafar Panahi’s Palme d’Or winner, It Was Just An Accident, which was released Oct. 15; Joachim Trier’s Grand-Prix winner, Sentimental Value releasing on Nov. 7; Kleber Mendonça Filho’s Cannes prize winner, The Secret Agent releasing Nov. 26; Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice releasing Dec. 25; and Oliver Laxe’s Sirât.
Lyrical Media is currently in post-production on Adam Wingard’s Onslaught and Michael Sarnoski’s The Death of Robin Hood starring Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, and Bill Skarsgård. They are also developing a slate of projects, including Funny Story, an adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling romantic comedy, Butcher & Blackbird, based on Brynne Weaver’s popular novel and “Powerless,” a television adaption of Lauren Roberts’ best-selling debut YA novel.”
