John Lydon Doesn’t Like Lady Gaga As a ‘Human Being’

Sex Pistols fans are no strangers to John Lydon’s unapologetic and brutally honest opinions. His latest target? None other than Lady Gaga. In a recent interview, the Sex Pistols frontman, also known as Johnny Rotten, made scathing remarks about the pop sensation, which is now making waves in the music industry.

Here’s everything you need to know about John Lydon’s harsh comments on Lady Gaga.

What did John Lydon say about Lady Gaga?

In an interview with NME, John Lydon didn’t hold back his thoughts on Lady Gaga, offering heavy criticism of her artistry. While he was once a fan of the singer, his views on her have since changed.

“Lady Gaga was a massively layered and textured presentation—very Bowie-era and pop music at its finest. But what she’s turned into is Bizarro World,” Lydon began. He then went on to slam her artistic choices, expressing that he feels a lack of soul in her work. “She’s acting in films, and I don’t like her as a human being. I don’t think she projects anything healthy,” he asserted. Lydon concluded with a sharp remark: “I don’t feel any soul. I don’t feel her heart in it. It seems a shame. She should have another side to her.”

Lydon also shared similar sentiments about Taylor Swift, calling her “incredibly dull.” He further criticized her artistic direction, stating, “She’s got no place to go, so it’s gone into a swishy ballroom-gown vibe. She’s going to be another one of those that ends up in Vegas because that’s the only place left…”

During the NME interview, Lydon also reflected on Heath Ledger’s inspiring performance in The Dark Knight, an unfinished collaboration with Daft Punk, and his experience voicing the villain Meat Sweats in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, among other topics.
