Kate Middleton returns to the Royal Marsden Hospital where she received cancer treatment to meet patients and support holistic cancer care
Kate visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in London on September 11. The Princess of Wales met patients undergoing treatment and learned how funds from the charity challenge will support holistic care.
Kate secretly completed the National Three Peaks Challenge in June. She climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours. The fundraiser aimed to support holistic cancer care across the United Kingdom.
“This is my small way of being able to give back and say thank you to you,” Kate said. She added, “I had incredible care here and support from a huge team.” Kate described herself as “really really grateful on a personal level.”
The Princess also emphasized the importance of support beyond medical treatment. “But also the holistic care, the treatments and therapeutic support on the outside is so important,” she said. She highlighted nature, nutrition and continued support during difficult treatments.
Kate explained that these elements had personally helped her during treatment. “It made a big difference to me and it made a huge difference to lots of patients who I’ve spoken to,” she said. She then thanked the hospital staff for their work.
During the visit, Kate learned more about a new Center for Holistic Wellbeing and Recovery. The facility will support physical, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing. She also viewed the site where the center will eventually be built.
“I think it will be transformative not only for patients but for families too,” Kate said. Money raised through her secret hiking challenge will support the center. Kate became Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in 2025. She received treatment there during her own cancer journey.
