Kenya Moore’s Divorce Settlement: What You Need To Know

The “Gone with the Wind” fabulous Kenya Moore has been in the news for multiple things over the years. Most recently, she was reported to have been suspended from the Real Housewives of Atlanta after allegedly decorating the grand opening of her Kenya Moore Hair Spa with posters of newbie Brittany Eady performing oral sex. Kenya has always had a certain… flair about her, whether she was correcting Porsha Williams on her title or competing with Shereé Whitfield on the completion of the manor/chateau.

Over the years, fans have watched Kenya fall in and out of love. We’ve rooted for her even when she tried to pretend Walter Jackson wasn’t a hired boyfriend. We felt her pain when Matt Jordan became so toxic that he vandalized her home. So when she found Marc Daly, fans were skeptical. But we had hope that she had finally found her happily ever after. Sadly, that wasn’t the case, and Kenya is now back at square one.

    The beginning

The duo married in 2017 and had a quick island ceremony in St. Lucia. Kenya once told People, “I’ve never experienced a first date like this before. You know when you meet people, and you like them or have good chemistry with them but you don’t feel like the world has changed? I felt like the earth moved after our first date.” Kenya lamented, “I probably would have married him in 30 days; the feeling was that strong. But we wanted to wait and get to know each other and make sure it wasn’t an infatuation. We needed to make sure it was actually real.”

Followers of the Real Housewives of Atlanta remember that Kenya refused to reveal his identity until the Season 10 finale. The formerly beauty queen winner would only refer to him as “baby.” Kenya said, “He didn’t sign up for this world; I did. Every time someone has been associated with me, they attack that person—immediately going after them, trying to bring them down, and saying crazy things. They tear people apart. He just wanted it to be about our pure love and not about him.”

    The divorce

Sadly, after only four years of marriage, Kenya and Marc announced their separation in 2019. After more than three years of litigation, Marc and Kenya finalized their divorce in 2023. Kenya once shared she “didn’t get married to quit.” Shortly after the separation was announced, the duo tried to give their marriage another go. While speaking on Watch What Happens Live in 2020, Kenya told Andy Cohen, “We’re in a good place right now. We’re trying to figure it out.” However, the pair eventually split again in January 2021, and Kenya officially filed in May.

    The settlement

Last week, a judge officially approved Kenya’s divorce settlement, concluding her long divorce. In Touch first reported the details of the settlement, which included Kenya retaining primary custody of their daughter. The outlet cited the court documents saying that Kenya and Marc agreed to share joint legal custody. Kenya had previously requested sole legal and physical custody.

Marc was ordered to pay $2,000 a month for Brooklyn’s child support and an additional $1,000 a month to fund their daughter’s college savings account. However, neither Marc nor Kenya will be receiving spousal support or alimony. The judge did grant Kenya “final decision-making authority” regarding “any and all economic opportunities for the minor child.” Kenya will, however, be required to discuss all contingencies with Marc. She’ll “have final authority to decide whether to include Brooklyn on a television show or for any other economic opportunities.”

Real Housewives of Atlanta fans will remember that this particular clause had been an issue from the onset. In 2023, Kenya went on the Reality With the King podcast, claiming Marc prevented their daughter from appearing on the Bravo series. The outlet also reported that the judge noted in the documents that Kenya has “exclusive control over any and all economic opportunities for 24 months.” After the date passes, both March and Kenya will be mandated to “attend mediation for further determination of final decision-making authority.” If an agreement can’t be reached, both parents must go back to court.
