Kim Kardashian’s Masked Look Is ‘Most Moronic Thing on Internet’

The 2025 Academy Museum Gala delivered an unexpected fashion moment when Kim Kardashian stepped onto the red carpet in a masked look that turned heads—whether for the right reasons or not. The social media star’s outfit sparked intense reactions from fans and fashion critics alike. Some praised the avant‑garde style as bold and iconic, while others harshly dubbed it “the most moronic thing” of the night.

Kim Kardashian’s masked look in nude gown receives backlash

Kim Kardashian walked into the 2025 Academy Museum Gala dressed in a nude‑toned Maison Margiela gown. While the gown by itself was no less stunning, the Skims co-founder paired it with a full‑face mask in an attempt to elevate the look. Kim accesorized the unconventional look with a statement-making diamond‑emerald choker and claw‑like manicure.

X comments lit up with split-screen opinions. Praises for her daring fashion were met with snarky remarks like “strange,” “unnecessary,” and “hideous.” One user even went ahead to call the mask “the most moronic thing”.

The look also left Instagram users divided, with one fan commenting, “I will never understand fashion”, while another wrote, “Still dressing like she with Kanye smh”. “Kim K throwing fits again,” one supportive comment read.

Reacting to the flak received, Kim said that while the mask limited her vision and prompted jokes about being blind on the carpet, it brought a sense of mystery to the entire look. She jokingly revealed that even her glam team was left frustrated while curating and working around the look.

Explaining the inspiration behind the mask, Kim explained that it was a last‑minute, spontaneous choice. The reality star further explained that it was her attempt to tie her shapewear brand, Skims, to the couture piece.

Besides her recent masked look that failed to impress fans, Kim has been making fashion headlines with her public appearances. From her 45th birthday look in a gold Givenchy corset dress to her All’s Fair red carpet outfit, an icy blue, body-hugging gown from Christian Dior’s spring 2000 collection, Kim Kardashian has been delivering back-to-back fashion hits with her vintage designer outfits.
