Leonardo DiCaprio Remembers Marvin’s Room Costar Diane Keaton

Leonardo DiCaprio recently reflected on his experience working with his Marvin’s Room costar Diane Keaton. He praised her charming personality and laugh, saying it made him feel like “the funniest person on earth.”

Leonardo DiCaprio talks about late Diane Keaton

The Titanic actor recently earned the title of “Entertainer of the Year” by Time. In the interview with the outlet, he spoke at length about his friendship with Diane Keaton and working with her. He said, “She had the most incredible laugh…It would echo through the entire set, and she made you feel like the funniest person in the world.”

Revealing that he “lived” for her laughter every day on set, he added, “I mean, burst-out-loud laughing. I’ll never forget it. I kind of lived to make her laugh every day on set, because it was so infectious. She was incredible.”

Keaton passed away in October 2025 due to bacterial pneumonia at age 79. DiCaprio took to Instagram stories to pay tribute to Keaton (via PEOPLE). He wrote alongside a picture of them, “Diane Keaton was one of a kind. Brilliant, funny, and unapologetically herself. A legend, and icon, and a truly kind human being. I had the honor of working with her at 18. She will be deeply missed.”

DiCaprio shared the screen with Keaton in the 1996 drama, Marvin’s Room. Directed by Jerry Zaks, the movie centers on estranged sisters who lead separate lives but are brought together by forced situations. They are then required to set aside their grudges, assess their bond, and make things right. Apart from DiCaprio and Keaton, the cast included Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Hume Cronyn, Joe Lisi, Gwen Verdon, Hal Scardino, Dan Hedaya, and Cynthia Nixon, among others.
