Martha Stewart Bashes Netflix Documentary For ‘Ugly’ Portrayal

A new documentary about Martha Stewart has hit Netflix. The documentary tells the story of the once-successful businesswoman who spent time in prison for fraud. While Martha had a lot to do with the documentary, she is not happy with how it turned out. In a recent interview, she slammed the director.

Here is what she had to say about the new Netflix documentary.

Martha Stewart Bashes Her Netflix Documentary

There are lots of things in the documentary that paint her in an unflattering light, including her admission she cheated in her marriage. However, she has no problem with that since her interviews told the story. She is mad about how director R.J. Cutler pieced together the documentary.

Simply titled, Martha, the synopsis reads: “Told in her own words, this candid documentary charts the unstoppable rise, sudden fall, and hard-won comeback of lifestyle icon Martha Stewart.”

Martha Stewart, 83, is unhappy with how her new Netflix documentary makes her look. She believes that the director chose the “ugliest angles.” As a result, she believes he is trying to make her look like a “lonely old lady.”

However, Martha talked about how the documentary looked, and there are parts that she hates about it. For one thing, she said it was “shocking” that Cutler used “very little” of her archives. She also slammed the final part of the documentary, where she is working in the garden (via The New York Times).

What Does Martha Stewart Hate About The Documentary?

Martha Stewart said she hated “Those last scenes with me looking like a lonely old lady walking hunched over in the garden.” She said she asked him to get rid of that footage, but Cutler refused. She said she hates those scenes.

Martha went on to say it made her look like a little old lonely lady. However, she explained why she was hunched over like she was while working in the garden. “I had ruptured my Achilles tendon,” she explained. “I had to have this hideous operation. And so I was limping a little. But again, he doesn’t even mention why — that I can live through that and still work seven days a week.”

She said that the documentary chose to use the “ugliest angle” even though there were three cameras on her.

Martha also said that she wanted rap music in the documentary, but Cutler also shot down that idea. Instead, he used classical music. Finally, she also said that she wanted the documentary to also focus on her relationship with her grandchildren, and they were not even mentioned in the documentary.
