The Eye Movie Review by Matt Boiselle

The Eye 4K Review – For a film that had three other remakes (2004’s “Adhu” & “Naina in 2005 ), and a (dicey) American version release in 2008,” the original 2002 presentation fresh outta Hong Kong had SO much more to offer between the scares, visuals and overall composition itself, and now thanks to the beauty of technology the O.G. has a totally dusted off appeal to it, courtesy of Arrow Video. First off, many thanks to the good souls at MVD Entertainment for providing me with one to splay out on my autopsy table for inspection – my instruments are sharpened and sterilized (somewhat), and I’m ready to slice, so let’s do this.

Directed by the Pang Brothers, the tale is told of Mun, a young violinist who is facing surgery to restore her eyesight, and the paranormal instances that plague her once the world has been newly displayed to her peepers…but you all know about the story – let’s get into the guts of this 4K presentation. First off the movie is ABSOLUTELY JAMMED with special features, and I’ll have them listed at the bottom of this review, but for now let’s cover the sights & sounds. Picture-quality is somewhat improved with a sharper view than the original copy, and hues of color have an additional pop to them to liven up all the dead that is in this movie. Audio-wise, I did have to catch myself turning down the level on my soundbar when this one fired up, as it definitely provided more boost to the background noises as opposed to the dialogue, but that’s all water under the bridge – this 4K restoration looks incredible and should be a worthwhile addition (or replacement for your old copy). The film is currently available for pre-order on ArrowVideo.com and MVDshop.com and will be available on April 21st, 2026 so get your name down for this one right now!

    Special Features Include:
