Norah O’Donnell Blasts ‘Silly’ CBS Viewers Amid Backlash

CBS announced an exciting new role for Norah O’Donnell. The news was met with a mixed reaction amid backlash against Bari Weiss. The former New York Times opinion writer has come under fire for the shocking changes to CBS News after she took over as editor-in-chief last year. The 60 Minutes correspondent blasted viewers as “silly” while defending her boss.

    Norah O’Donnell Shares Exciting News

Norah O’Donnell has been a familiar face to CBS viewers for years. She was recently promoted to a full-time 60 Minutes correspondent amid a shakeup to the long-running news magazine. Now she’s taken on another role.

Norah O’Donnell is returning to CBS Mornings permanently as the network finally replaces Tony Dokoupil. He left the morning program eight months ago to anchor CBS Nightly News. Norah O’Donnell left CBS This Morning in 2019 to anchor the Nightly News, but left after nearly five years. Now, she’s returning to the morning shift.

    Begs Viewers To Watch

Norah O’Donnell’s return to CBS Mornings received mixed reactions from CBS viewers. She shared the news on Instagram and then jumped into the comments to respond to the negative reactions. She didn’t reply to many of the positive comments, if any.

    • “NO!! Go to another network. I will never watch a minute of CBS programming after the Colbert/60 minutes fiasco. You deserve better than CBS!” one CBS viewer wrote. Norah O’Donnell replied, “Thanks for commenting. Give us a try.”

In another exchange, the CBS anchor begged for people to watch. A fan wrote that they couldn’t watch anymore because of Bari Weiss. “This makes no sense. Watch our show,” Norah O’Donnell replied.

CBS Anchor Blasts ‘Silly’ Viewers Amid Bari Weiss Backlash

Nearly all of the negative comments on the post mentioned Bari Weiss and what’s happened at CBS News in the last year.

    • “Nora, I really like you. You and Gayle work great together. BUT I stopped watching CBS when Colbert was fired and then the interference with the truth in the news.”
    • “I love Nora but as long as Bari Weiss is at the helm I’ve stopped watching allCBS News programs.”
    • “I would be inclined to give it a try, but not with Bari Weiss in charge”

But Norah O’Donnell dismissed concerns about Bari Weiss by insulting “silly” viewers.

    • “I feel Norah is too good to stay with CBS. I wish some other news force had scooped her up. As long as Bari Weiss and the Ellisons are in charge bye bye,” one former viewer wrote in the comments.

Norah O’Donnell responded, “This is so silly. Just watch our show!” Calling viewers “silly” isn’t the right way to encourage them to watch CBS Mornings. It will be interesting to see if Norah O’Donnell’s return to the morning program gives it a ratings boost to compete with ABC and NBC.

Share your thoughts on Norah O’Donnell’s interaction with upset viewers in the comments. Did she go too far in defending Bari Weiss? Let us know.
