Actress Kim Delaney is best known for playing a detective on television, as well as appearing on soaps like All My Children and General Hospital. However, the actress recently found herself on the opposite side of the law in real life. Notably, this isn’t Delaney’s first run-in with the law over the years.
Kim Delaney Famously Played Detective Diane Russell On NYPD Blue
As an actress, one of Delaney’s first prominent roles was playing Jenny Gardner Nelson on All My Children. Following this, she transitioned into feature films throughout the 1980s, such as Some Kind of Wonderful.
In the 1990s, Delaney would get cast as detective Diane Russell on NYPD Blue. Initially planned for a few episodes, the role became permanent, eventually becoming one of her more well-known roles.

In the 2000s, Delaney would get cast in CSI: Miami, playing Megan Donner. Initially intended as the lead, she would leave the series after a few episodes.
Following this, Delaney prominently featured on Lifetime’s Army Wives. In 2020, the actress made her return to soaps, taking over the role of Jackie Templeton on General Hospital.
As noted by TMZ, Delaney found herself facing trouble with the law this past Saturday. The drama reportedly started on Saturday morning when police were called to the actress’ home over a domestic disturbance involving both her and her partner, James Morgan.
According to the publication, the two got into an argument that became physical. Paramedics arrived on the scene to see if either Delaney or her partner were injured.
The General Hospital Actress Also Found Herself Having Trouble With The Law In The Early 2000s
After being medically cleared, authorities put them in handcuffs and took them to jail. Delaney was charged with “felony assault likely to cause great bodily injury.” Morgan was also given a misdemeanor charge for domestic violence.
The publication took note of the irony that Delaney, who made a career playing characters involved with law enforcement would find herself on the opposite side of the law in real life. In addition, one of her most recent roles was a true-crime film, 2021’s The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice. In the film, Delaney plays a mother, Mari, who tries to find out the truth of what really happened to her daughter.
It was also noted that this wasn’t her first run-in with the law. Back in 2002, the actress was allegedly arrested for drunken driving while in Malibu. Around two years later, she had also been reportedly sued by a motorcyclist for felling the scene of a Los Angeles accident.
According to People, Delaney and Morgan were still in police custody as of March 30, as confirmed by Marina Del Rey Sheriff’s Station. In addition, the station said that Delaney’s charge was “assault with a deadly weapon.”
In addition, the actress’ next court date is scheduled for April 1. Morgan, who had been arrested around half an hour earlier, is also scheduled to appear in court the same day. Morgan’s bail was reportedly set to $20,000.
