So much has happened with the Chrisley family these past several weeks. And it looks like Savannah Chrisley may be capitalizing on the momentum and tossing her hat into the political arena.
To anyone who has been following along with the former stars of the show Chrisley Knows Best this doesn’t come as a surprise. Savannah has been right in the thick of politics these past couple of years as she lobbied hard for her parents’ release from prison. And she acheived it. Is it a stretch that she would want to keep going?
Could Savannah Chrisley run for Congress?
Savannah has spent the better part of the last couple of years fighting. She lobbied for her parents’ prison release, combated their harsh sentences, and spoke out against what she feels were horrible prison conditions.
And her work paid off, the POTUS gave Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley a presidential pardon. Now reunited the family has hit the ground running. They’ve secured a new Lifetime series about life after lockup and speaking about the huge blessing they were given.
Recently Savannah appeared on ABC News Studios’ IMPACT x Nightline with her parents. And she shared that she’s considering running for Congress after fighting for criminal justice and prison reform and speaking at the 2024 Republican National Convention.
She said that seeing what happened to her parents really opened her eyes to the reality of life in American prisons. “I didn’t realize how broken the system was,” Savannah shared. “I thought bad people go to prison, and that’s what it was, and that is so far from the truth.”
She spoke about the broken system and wanting to change the rehabilitation program. She wanted prisons to include mental health treatment and job opportunities and advocating for prisoners.
When host Juju Chang mentioned a potential political bid, they family laughed. But then Todd said “We cringe, but we’re kind of thinking yes.”
And Savannah clarified, “There’s been some talk of a congressional run.”
Well, it wouldn’t be too shocking. Savannah has made her political alignment very clear and she’s shared that the current President has given some Americans “hope for the future.”
