Seth Meyers Reacts to Algae in Donald Trump’s Renovated Reflecting Pool

Donald Trump’s plan to renovate the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool doesn’t seem to be going exactly as planned. Now, comedian Seth Meyers is ripping into the President following the emergence of green algae in the pool. In his latest monologue, the late-night talk show host shared his thoughts on the reflecting pool turning green despite its recent million-dollar restoration, stating that Trump really turned the iconic structure into a “swamp.”

Seth Meyers jokes about Donald Trump’s reflecting pool

Recently, on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the titular host slammed the Republican leader after the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool turned green due to an unprecedented growth of algae.

“Trump gave out a no-bid contract to a friendly company with an inflated profit margin for a project no one asked for, and in the process, he took an iconic American institution and turned it puke green,” Seth Meyers noted on the June 17 episode of his show.

Meyers then cut to a segment called ‘The Metaphor Is Way Too Obvious’ and stated, “You guys, the metaphor is way too obvious. I mean, do I really need to spell it out for you? My whole job here is to come out and make ridiculous metaphors, but real life is already a metaphor.”

“He [Trump] said he was going to ‘drain the swamp,’ and he literally drained a pool or lake or small ocean and created an actual swamp. At this point, I might as well just quit and move to the Bahamas, so I can swim in a pool that’s actually turquoise…By the way, ‘puke green’ isn’t some mean insult the radical left or the crooked media made up. It’s what the people who are at the reflecting pool are saying,” the 52-year-old comedian added.

Moreover, Seth Meyers even mocked Fox News reporters for trying to defend Donald Trump by claiming that the reflecting pool was still ‘American Flag blue.’ “We can see it right behind you! It’s so green it looks like the Ninja Turtles are about to crawl out,” he joked.

Notably, the Trump administration had spent an estimated $15 million on the resotration of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
