In the great room, the outside world, the part of the planet that’s isn’t cyberspace, we close our eyes to pray, kiss, cry, listen to music and avoid facing the darkness. Composer Randy Edelman presents some fascinatingly purgatorial moments in “The Beast Inside”, where everything is connected, everything is vulnerable and everything is beautiful. There is something else in the reflection ….it’s there for anyone to see if you know where to look….it breaks up the film into fractions of seconds and purposely stores them in the record album …. but if you try to find that split second in the film it can go by without you knowing….unless you really listen to the music… It’s not that they have something to hide, it’s that they have something they don’t want you to see…..
With mounting climaxes, suspenseful crescendos, loving diminuendos, and percolating sequences, “The Beast Inside” doesn’t need the movie to make the music substantial and eloquent. However, Randy Edelman has the magic of Astro-projecting the audience right into the soul of the film, making you feel as though you are actually part of what’s happening. He opens the door to a wide view of impending doom and engulfing darkness, but then the beautifully ambient Mother and Son theme reflects a silence and an emptiness brought on by despair and also the love a mother feels for her child. His music finds a way of balancing the spiritual with the unbearable. The delicate allure takes your breath away, as the velvet blackness of terror makes you lose your breath….
Composer Randy Edelman is respected for creating the music for over 100 classic motion pictures, TV and sports themes including “My Cousin Vinny”, “Last of the Mohicans”, “Ghostbusters ll”, “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story”, “Dragonheart”, “Gettysburg”, “While You Were Sleeping”, “Daylight”, “Billy Madison”, “ MacGyver” (NBC’s hit series), “Kindergarten Cop”, “The Chipmunks”, “The Mummy 3”, and so many others. He is also known for a string of historical pop hits encompassing “A Weekend In New England” (Barry Manilow), Isn’t It A Shame (Patti LaBelle), “My Place” (Nelly), Concrete and Clay (Randy Edelman), and an endless parade of others.
“The Beast Inside” will be released early next fall. It stars Sadie Katz, Vernon Wells, and Laurene Landon and is directed by Jim Towns. All music is composed and performed by Randy Edelman. The physical soundtrack will be unleashed ahead of the film.
The soundtrack of “The Beast Inside” is a major jubilation for Randy and in every musical realm a true celebration. Although all of his music is a cause for rejoicing, “The Beast Inside” stands out and is destined to stand side by side with the Orchestrations composed during the “Classical Period” of music. Randy Edelman will be performing in NYC on January 26th at 10:00 pm at “Don’t Tell Mama” and at Chelsea Table and Stage on January 28th at 9:00 pm….
