‘The End of Oak Street’ Trailer Pits a Family Against Dinosaurs!

Epic New 'The End of Oak Street' Trailer Pits a Suburban Family Against Dinosaurs!

The marketing for The End of Oak Street has been promising one thing from the very beginning: dinosaurs invading suburbia.

    The new trailer fully delivers.

Rather than holding back, the latest look at the film throws its central family (Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery) headfirst into a full-scale prehistoric nightmare. Whatever happened to their quiet neighborhood has seemingly thrust it back in time, transforming an ordinary suburban street into a deadly hunting ground crawling with dinosaurs.

The trailer wastes no time dropping audiences into the chaos. The family quickly realizes the situation is far worse than they imagined as they’re pursued by what appear to be Velociraptors while neighbors are picked off around them. The action only escalates from there, culminating in a tense confrontation with what looks to be a Tyrannosaurus rex.

What impressed me most, though, were the wider shots. Sweeping views from the family’s rooftop reveal the incredible scale of the disaster, suggesting this isn’t just one house under attack but an entire neighborhood overrun by prehistoric predators.

The whole thing feels like it’s channeling classic Steven Spielberg spectacle while embracing the mystery-driven blockbuster energy that made J.J. Abrams‘ early films so much fun. If the finished film can live up to what these trailers have been selling, The End of Oak Street could be one of the most entertaining genre blockbusters of the summer.

Our very own Matt Konopka recently caught an early screening, and here’s what he had to say.

The End of Oak Street stomps into theaters and IMAX on August 14.
