Veteran filmmaker Steven Spielberg has also joined this list. Spielberg, whose new film “Disclosure Day” is on the way, spoke about Cruise during a new keynote interview. He claimed that Cruise had one crucial habit that made him stand out.
Steven Spielberg talks about Tom Cruise’s on-set habit
Steven Spielberg, widely considered one of the greatest directors in Hollywood, spoke about his admiration for “Mission Impossible” star Tom Cruise. Over the years, many who have worked with the “Jerry Maguire” actor have shown their appreciation for his work ethic. He especially garnered admiration for his drive to do his job perfectly and go the extra mile whenever necessary.
Spielberg, who will soon return to the screen with Disclosure Day, worked with Cruise in two films, 2002’s “Minority Report” and 2005’s “War of the Worlds”. Like others, Spielberg had a great experience working with Cruise. He addressed this while speaking at a keynote event at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.
“Tom Cruise showed up every morning when I showed up,” Spielberg said of the actor, “I show up before the crew. So I get to the set sometimes at 6:30 in the morning.” He continued to explain, “On Minority Report and on War of the Worlds, Tom would insist on getting there when I got there so we would map out the whole day … which was really helpful for me.”
Cruise has also been noted for being very proactive during shootings, always going above and beyond. The actor previously told PEOPLE that he took every shooting opportunity as a way of adding to his knowledge base and skill set. “I will learn a skill, and I know eventually I’m going to use it in a movie,” he had said.
Tom Cruise will soon star in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Digger” in 2026.
