Donald Trump faced criticism after posting an AI-generated video on his Truth Social platform, titled “Gaza 2025 … what’s next?” The video portrays a transformed version of Gaza. It imagines the war-torn region as a luxury destination, complete with skyscrapers, yachts, and beachfront resorts.
Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are shown sipping cocktails, while a golden statue of Trump dominates a cityscape. Elon Musk also appears in the clip and is seen eating flatbread and later dancing as money falls around him.
However, the video has been widely condemned, with critics calling it insensitive and even viewing it as a blueprint for ethnic cleansing. Some accused Trump of promoting a vision that ignores the suffering of Gaza’s people. Even Trump’s own supporters voiced concerns, with some Christian conservatives condemning the golden idol-like figure.
One user wrote on Truth Social, “This is just plain wrong!! This video is in very bad taste and just plain horrible!! The gold statue is 100% wrong no matter which way you try to make it come across. This video makes me sick.” Another commented, “I’m sorry but this is really in poor taste. Lives were lost and Innocents are still buried in that rubble. Please take this down immediately.”
Hamas official Basem Naim strongly criticized the video, telling Newsweek that it disregards the realities faced by Palestinians. The official said, “Unfortunately, Trump is once again proposing ideas that do not take into account the cultures and interests of the people.”
