Every piece of music is conceived in love or lust, or spawned in tragedy and anguish, or yielded from joy and passion. Composer Randy Edelman will be revealing a very emotional and touching new LP entitled “Waltzing On A High Wire” on Friday September 6, 2024 via Tribeca Records. It will be available worldwide on all digital platforms as well as in vinyl CD format and a double vinyl album set in a limited edition.
“Waltzing On A High Wire” sweeps you on board an urgent rocket ride with musical shifting from gargantuan waves of melody to fragrant and delicate flowers of sound in an instant. The album is often affecting and seems like a labor of love from Randy Edelman, who also brilliantly and intricately produced it. The musicianship of the record was joyfully and handsomely performed. The emotional spectrum of the record is almost staggering, full of sentimentality seesawing back and forth, and full of depth, swagger and romance.
The LP enjoys a myriad of genres and compassionate themes. “Pat Wants to Know” sadly describes a couple whose poetry of communication has failed and sung to an anachronistic doo-wop beat misplaced somewhere in time, yet beautifully arranged and produced. “Always The Hunter/A Lullaby To A Special Friend” the only completely instrumental track on the record found its own symphonic voice even without words as it takes you on a circular journey retracing steps and taking the listener beyond places where most ears have never before traveled. “Any Conventional Means” is exuberant and spicy with a well-placed climax. The composer lights up the lyrical atmosphere creating tension and mastering a surprisingly rugged emotional landscape, proving he can’t be killed by any conventional means. The song lives dangerously without crossing the line.
Randy Edelman is a multi-dimensional composer whose eclectic output reflects the musical world. He balances a varied career of film and television scoring of which he’s credited for creating over 100 soundtracks ( My Cousin Vinny, Last of the Mohicans, Ghostbusters ll). He’s a brilliant pianist, a conductor and has had his songs covered by the likes of Barry Manilow, Patti LaBelle, Nelly, The Carpenters and a barrage of others. He is also a solo performer who works hard to push barriers and connect with new audiences. He stretches what it means to be a pianist and his performances incorporate improvisation, humor, and spirit. He will be touring in support of “Waltzing On A High Wire.”
