Biffy Clyro debuted two new songs during a secret, intimate show in Glasgow this week. Watch fan-shot footage and find the setlist below.

The Scottish trio made their live return with a special homecoming gig at the city’s SWG3 Warehouse on Wednesday (May 21), marking their first performance together since last October.

Simon Neil and co. appeared under the pseudonym Screwfish – which was an early name for the band – and treated lucky attendees to a 20-track set, per Setlist.FM. They opened the show by debuting their forthcoming single ‘A Little Love’.

Towards the end of the concert, frontman Neil premiered another new cut called ‘A Thousand And One’. The singer-songwriter played this rendition of the tender song solo on acoustic guitar.

“This song is beautiful. Can’t wait for the proper release,” one fan wrote in the comments section after someone shared a video of the performance online. Another said: “I love it. I think this will be a big hit to people who aren’t necessarily typical Biffy fans, i.e the mainstream. That’s a cool thing to create. It hits for me.”

As for the bigger, full-band debut outing of ‘A Little Love’, a viewer posted: “Hell yes!! This is going to be awesome.” A second user commented: “So needed this… welcome back.”

Over on Reddit, a fan who attended the secret Glasgow gig said that ‘A Little Love’ was “really enjoyable and I assume the opener for the new album”. They added: “Unsure if there’s such a thing as a ‘typical’ Biffy opener but this is up there with the others.”

The audience member went on to describe ‘A Thousand And One’ as a “heartfelt, raw acoustic track”. You can watch fan-shot videos of both new songs here:

In addition to the new tunes, the show featured various classics and fan-favourites such as ‘Bubbles’, ‘Many Of Horror’, ‘Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies’ and ‘Born On A Horse’.

Biffy, whose latest album ‘The Myth Of The Happily Ever After’ arrived in 2021, have since confirmed that ‘A Little Love’ will be released on Wednesday June 11 (pre-save/pre-add here).

They’ve also shared a preview snippet of the single, accompanied by some official footage from this week’s Screwfish gig. Additionally, the group told fans that ‘A Little Love’ would be getting its “festival debut” when they play Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool today (May 23).

Elsewhere, fans on Reddit have shared an email from Biffy Clyro in which they promised that “more will be revealed soon” regarding new music. “Keep your eyes peeled on our socials, and join our Instagram broadcast channel for behind-the-scenes content from the studio and more,” they added.

Next month, the trio will return to Glastonbury Festival ahead of huge sets at Cornwall’s Eden Sessions and a headline slot at Glasgow’s TRNSMT. Numerous European festivals are in the calendar as well, including Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park, Southside and Pinkpop.

Biffy Clyro had first signalled their return in January. “Back at it,” they wrote on social media at the time.

Last October, Biffy Clyro took to the stage in London and Glasgow to celebrate their first three albums – ‘Blackened Sky’ (2002), ‘The Vertigo Of Bliss’ (2003) and ‘Infinity Land’ (2004).

In the time since the band’s last full-length record, frontman Simon Neil has been busy with his grindcore side-project Empire State Bastard, which he founded alongside Oceansize‘s Mike Vennart. The group released their debut album ‘Rivers Of Heresy’ in 2023.
