Eilish was brought out for Bieber to serenade her with his 2009 hit, and she was seen laughing as he hugged her and sat her down on a stool. Bieber seemed to take just as much amusement in it, periodically laughing as he sang.

‘One Less Lonely Girl’ was performed as part of a segment of Bieber’s set where he brings up his old music videos on YouTube and sings along with them, bringing together his present and teenage selves.

Later on, Bieber was also joined near the end of his set by SZA for an acoustic duet of ‘Snooze’. At the end, he told her he loved her “so much” before SZA admitted she was so nervous she had forgotten how she was supposed to leave the stage.

Bieber’s Coachella headline set signalled his return to performing for the first time in the US since his 2022 ‘Justice’ world tour.

At the desert festival’s first weekend, he brought out with special guests Dijon, Tems, Wizkid and Mk.gee, with The Kid Laroi appearing earlier in the night.

It is believed that he will earn over $10million (£7.3million) in total for his pair of Coachella 2026 performances.

Both of Bieber’s recent albums earned three stars each, with NME describing ‘Swag‘ as Bieber finding “sanctuary in faith and love, with the help of a diverse group of collaborators”.

Its follow-up, ‘Swag II‘ was dubbed “frustrating because there’s plenty of great material scattered across these two parts, which would be far stronger as a single, shorter release. Put bluntly, you have to wonder: did this really need to be a double album?”.

Elsewhere, Geese paid homage to Bieber during their own Coachella set with a cover of ‘Baby’.
