Why the Long Face? Lestat Is Back

Why the Long Face? Lestat Is Back

There are three Friday the 13th dates in 2026, which is the maximum amount that can happen in a calendar year. Regal Theatres said, let’s celebrate those superstitious days of bad luck, but make it happy. Well, happy for fans anyway. It’s all bad luck for the victims in this iconic bloody horror franchise.

Modern cinema and its use of digital media is one of the best reasons to go to the movies nowadays. It gives younger fans a way to see some of their favorite moves — which they may have only experienced on the small screen — a grander point-of-view. Regal Theatres is embracing its slasher side and giving horror fans a 2026 to remember.

“At our theatres, Regal shares joy through extraordinary experiences, and on each Friday the 13th in 2026, we will deliver on that promise to our horror movie-loving guests,” said Brooks LeBoeuf, Senior Vice President of US Content at Regal. “We have scheduled a year-long moviegoing event around one of the most popular horror series in the world, celebrated on its namesake holiday.”

On each occurrence of Friday the 13th in 2026, Regal will rerelease canonical films that established the Vorhees lore of this storied franchise with something big planned to elevate the horror moviegoing experience on the final (un)lucky day in November.

    • Friday, February 13 – Friday the 13th (1980) and Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
    • Friday, March 13 – Friday the 13th Part 3 3-D (1982) and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
    • Friday, November 13 – Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986)

There Will Be One Movie Missing:

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985) is purposefully missing from the rerelease schedule, as Regal axed (or more accurately macheted) the fifth chapter in the series due to a “fake Jason” plot twist generally disliked by fans of the franchise. Regal has omitted Part 5 out of respect to the murderous legacy of the Vorhees family.

The year-long Friday the 13th rerelease series at Regal is presented in partnership with FANGORIA, the premier authority on horror entertainment. Regal Crown Club members who attend multiple Friday the 13th showtimes across the year will receive continuity credits and FANGORIA rewards for their continued attendance.

Kevan Kerr, Senior Communications Manager for Regal, says there is something special planned for one of its Illinois locations.

“On the suburban outskirts of the Chicago DMA (Designated Market Area), Regal has a 16-screen theatre in Crystal Lake, Illinois, named the Regal Crystal Lake Showplace. While Camp Crystal Lake from the Friday the 13th franchise is a fictional summer retreat set in New Jersey, we are going to establish Regal Crystal Lake Showplace as a pilgrimage site for horror moviegoers in 2026.  The Crystal Lake theatre team has been outfitted with special Friday the 13th camp counselor shirts!”

Advance tickets for Friday the 13th showtimes on Friday, February 13, are available for purchase at Regal theatre box offices/kiosks, on the mobile app, or through REGmovies.com. Regal guests can also secure seats for these bring back horror titles by joining Regal Unlimited, where subscribers see as many movies, whenever and wherever they want.
