Charlie Cox has addressed the persistent rumors linking his street-level hero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Appearing at MCM Comic Con, the Daredevil actor gave a candid response that will answer fans hoping to see the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen stand alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

When an attendee asked whether Daredevil would join the Avengers in Secret Wars, Cox responded, “No, I’m not going to be in it, no,” before apologizing to the crowd. He then doubled down with a playful reference to his own track record, adding, “And you should believe me now. I’m not a liar” (via ScreenRant).
The latter remark nods to a previous wave of speculation. Before the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July, many viewers firmly believed Charlie Cox would reprise his role as Matt Murdock. His appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the character’s established connection to Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, who was confirmed for that movie, had made the theory seem almost certain. Those predictions ultimately proved incorrect.
Cox first donned the mask eleven years ago in Netflix’s Marvel series. The show’s sudden cancellation left the character in limbo, but his brief return as Peter Parker’s lawyer in No Way Home changed everything. Daredevil became MCU canon. The revival series Born Again then restored the vigilante to the spotlight, prompting fans to connect the dots towards an Avengers membership.
That membership will not materialize in Secret Wars. Cox will instead continue his story in Born Again Season 3, which could release in early 2027. Now, despite Cox’s denial, the broader Avengers picture remains fluid. Kevin Feige has stated that the full roster for Avengers: Doomsday, which releases in December 2026, has not been revealed. While Chris Evans and Florence Pugh are attached, Secret Wars begins filming in mid-2026.
