‘YAGA’ Gets Creepy First Look at San Diego Comic-Con Ahead of October Premiere

AMC Global Media returned to San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, where it debuted the first footage from its upcoming mystery thriller YAGA and confirmed the series will premiere on AMC+ this October.

The eight-episode, half-hour drama stars Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek, The Vampire Lestat), Clark Backo (Letterkenny), and Hudson Williams in his first role following Heated Rivalry. Based on Kat Sandler‘s hit play, the series reimagines the legend of Baba Yaga as a contemporary supernatural mystery.

YAGA follows private investigator Rapp (Reid) as he travels to a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park (Williams), the heir to a powerful fishing family. His search puts him on a collision course with local detective Carson (Backo), enigmatic professor Katherine (Moss), and a web of secrets, suspects, and ancient magic.

The series is produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in partnership with Crave. Sandler serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer alongside Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller, and Moss.

During Saturday’s Comic-Con panel, attendees got an exclusive first look at YAGA. The footage opened with a mysterious witch before introducing the remainder of the characters through an array of clips. AMC has now shared the first-look clip on its social media channels. Watch it below.

Although Williams was unable to attend the panel, he shared a recorded message with fans.

“I wish I could be there with you today, and that beautiful cast and crew that I love so much. I’ve also never been to Comic-Con, so I’d really love to be there!” Williams said. He then added, “The show was a blast. It was a wild one to film, and I just hope you guys love it as much as I had fun filming it.”
