Yungblud’s new album will be out in early 2025 with 9 minute opener

Yungblud has teased that his next album will release in early 2025 – find out what he had to say about the upcoming record below.

In a new chat with The Osbournes’ Kelly and Sharon, the musician spoke about what he has planned for next year. He used the opportunity to hype up the record, which he revealed to NME earlier this year would be a Britpop-inspired concept album.

He expanded on the idea with The Osbournes, telling them: “The record we’re making at the minute is probably the closest to a rock opera we’ve ever done. So it’s made to be played start-to-finish, which is a really cool thing to do.”

“The opening song’s nine-minutes,” he added, before Sharon Osbourne asked when it’s due out. He replied: “Probably early next year, I would say. It’s a fucking big idea, so I want to get it right. I don’t want a shit rock opera. You’ve got to fucking think big, it’s going to be cool.”

The musician’s latest single, ‘Breakdown’ – which arrived in June – is expected to be part of the upcoming album. The Britpop flavours on ‘Breakdown’ were first hinted at in NME’s interview with Yungblud back in March, when he described his next album as being made in “the North”, and representing “the light”.

“I’m 27 next and for a character like me it’s either death or rebirth,” he said. “This point has been amazing up to now. I’ll never lose what it’s about in terms of Yungblud and the soul of it – but musically, this next album is something I’ve been working on for two years and it’s a fucking adventure. It’s a full concept that you can play from start to finish.”

“It’s all about getting through it; it’s positive. It’s that thing in your stomach when you listen to Oasis, or The Verve, or Bowie, or Suede, or Madonna. It makes me feel like I can get up today. It makes me feel like I’m invincible and that I can do anything – that’s what this new album sounds like,” he explained.

He went on to say that other influences included The Stone Roses and Amy Winehouse and everything else that has “done work on my soul”.

“It’ll be a great ‘Urban Hymns’ or ’Screamadelica’,” he added. “I know the old dudes are going to leather me in the comments for that but I don’t give a fuck because I’m going to go there. If you listen to it, then it’s that from a new perspective.”

Most recently, Yungblud made a brief cameo at the Sex Pistols’ and Frank Carter’s first Bush Hall show earlier this week. During a rendition of the 1977 classic track ‘God Save The Queen’, which also saw Carter switch up the lyrics to “God save the King”, Yungblud was called up onstage for a few seconds after he was seen crowdsurfing to the front of the venue.
