8-Year-Old Texas Boy Hit By SUV, Driver Left Him For Dead

A young boy in Fort Worth, Texas, nearly lost his life while out riding his bike. The victim of a hit-and-run, the boy’s family has since shared his story. This includes what they believe might have saved his life as he was left to die. In addition, the family has called out to people for help as they try to bring the driver to justice.

The Young Boy Was Struck By An SUV, With The Driver Nearly Hitting Another Witness

On September 5, 2025, an eight-year-old boy in Fort Worth, Texas, was riding his bike near Mercantile Square Apartments. At around 6:30 to 7:45 PM, however, tragedy struck.

According to witnesses at the scene and the boy himself, a black SUV struck him in a hit-and-run. Reportedly, a nearby woman, who later called in to report the story, was also nearly hit by the driver.

Since the incident, the boy’s family shared more of the story on a GoFundMe page. It was explained that the driver not only struck the boy, but “actually drove over him head-on.” The driver then reportedly got out, looked at him lying there, and then sped off. The boy was seen “screaming, skinned, and bloody, not knowing if he would be okay” when the driver drove off.

The GoFundMe campaign’s story was shared by the victim’s mother. While explaining what happened, some good news was shared. The mother reported, “Thankfully, my son survived with no critical or life-threatening injuries.”

It was believed that the boy’s bike was wedged between him and the vehicle. This may have been what saved his life. Although the boy ultimately survived, “He has been left injured, shaken, and deeply traumatized by this horrific event.”

While The Boy Survived, The Family Shared That He Is Still Enduring A Lot Of Physical & Mental Trauma

The family also shared concern over the lasting impact of the injuries sustained. As they shared, “At his age, he’s starting to care about his appearance — and he is devastated by his injuries.”

“One ear now hangs lower than the other, something we didn’t notice until later. We hope it’s just due to swelling in that area. When he realized it, he broke down. He worries about scarring, goes back and forth between emotional breakdowns and putting on a brave face, and is trying so hard to be okay.”

Discussing the trauma he’s gone through, the family added, “He can’t sleep without crying throughout the night. He shakes uncontrollably in his sleep. He says it’s all he can think about or see. His appetite has significantly decreased due to his pain. He’s now saying he’s scared to live in our apartment complex and begs us to move away.”

As the local police took the weekend off, the family did their own investigation into what happened. They are currently trying to discover the identity of the driver involved. The victim’s mother, while thanking the community for their support, shared, “As his mother, I will do everything in my power to make sure the person responsible is held accountable.”

The Family Called On People To Share The Story With Others As They Investigate What Happened

Asking for donations, the family shared that funds would go towards legal representation for the family, investigation support, and relocating the family to a safer living condition. Those who were unable to donate were asked instead to share the story. The post ended with thanks from Baylea Christiansen, Kyle Park, and “Lukas.”

With the post being shared on social media, many shared their support with the family. Baylea herself even thanked people for these comments, noting, “Thank you all for your kind words!”

When some responded that they were glad to see his was okay, Baylea also shared, “Me and dad are too! Thank you!” Some comments included:

    • “God help this person’s soul if I ever find them. No one hurts my little dude, they can go straight to hell for not owning up to it.”
    • “Oh my god! So glad it doesn’t look like anything is broken.”
    • “Poor baby! So glad he’s okay! I hope they find the person responsible quick!!”
    • “Baylea I can’t believe this! Your precious little guy. Who does this! I hope they find him and throw him in prison and throw away the key! So thankful there were no life threatening injuries. My heart breaks for you.”
