Amanda Seyfried refuses to cross a personal boundary when it comes to movie roles. The actress has revealed the reason why she never accepts projects featuring sex scenes.
Seyfried discussed her career during a panel hosted by Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival. During the conversation, Seyfried said (via People) she had “passed on a show where I would have to have sex all the time because of the sex. Doesn’t matter [who it’s with]… I don’t wanna do it. I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not into it right now.”
The Oscar-nominated star added, “Maybe if [the project] came along again [at a later point], maybe I’d be in a different space. But I don’t wanna deal with being naked with a stranger.”
Seyfried also said that acting has become weirder as she has gotten older. “We have to be romantic with people that we’re not romantic with,” she said. “Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s really uncomfortable.”

Amanda Seyfried opens up about setting boundaries in Hollywood
Speaking with Baldwin, Seyfried emphasized the importance of setting boundaries both as an actor and in her personal life.
“I have kids now who are paying attention to what I do, and so I have to be less of a pushover,” the Mamma Mia! star said. “The other day — this is so silly — but Nina, my daughter, and I were walking across the street [in Manhattan] … and a person on our side of the street asked for a picture, and I looked at my daughter, and I said, ‘No, I’m sorry.’”
Seyfried recalled, “And then we walked across the street, and I was like, ‘How was that for you, Nina? Was that okay?’ She’s like, ‘I’m very proud of you, mama.’”
Seyfried said she now declines photo requests when she is with her children. “Whatever [they are] going through is more important than what I’m going through,” she explained.
Seyfried also voices Cinderella in Netflix’s animated musical comedy Steps. She is also set to star in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s film adaptation of the musical Octet.
