    ‘GH’ Kelly Monaco Breaks Year-Long Instagram Hiatus


    Kelly Monaco, who spent years on General Hospital as Sam McCall, has taken a bit of a hiatus from social media. However, she recently returned with a new post, complete in honor of a recent milestone. Since then, fans have been sharing their reactions, as well as a few soap opera stars, plus a few reality show figures.

    Kelly Monaco Joined General Hospital After Originally Appearing On Port Charles

    Monaco first joined the General Hospital universe through the spin-off series, Port Charles. From 2000 to 20223, she appeared as Livvie Locke and Tess Ramsey.

    Following this, Monaco would join the main show, with fans now knowing her as Sam McCall. However, she would make her exit from the soap in 2024.

    This past year, Monaco has taken a bit of a break from social media. One of her last post was the announcement of the Bad Bunnies podcast with Shanna Moakler back in March 2025, which has since been cancelled before episode were released.

    Recently, however, Monaco returned on social media with a post celebrating a special milestone in her life: her 50th birthday. She shared that she was using her birthday as a call to promote wellness, writing, “Today I turned 50! There’s no place like home… coach @__monaco getting me back in shape.”

    Many Soap Opera Stars Took To The Comments To Wish Monaco A Happy Birthday

    Monaco’s coach was her own nephew, Chris Monaco. In the accompanying video, she could be seen going for a jog around a track alongside Chris, after a brief warm-up dance.

    Following her share, various soap opera stars also took to Instagram to wish Monaco a happy birthday. Kimberly McCullough shared, “Yes, girl, get it!” Cameron Mathison also shared a few clapping hands emojis. Kristen Alderson also shared, “Happy Birthday to the coolest chick around!”

    As reality show fans know, Monaco is also the first season winner of Dancing with the Stars. Series alum Tom Bergeron wrote, “Those are the kind of moves that won you that 1st Mirror Ball Trophy.”

    Taking to the comments, other fans expressed similar well-wishes with her. Of course, a lot also liked to see her show off some new moves, while others hoped to see her one day return to General Hospital. Some comments included:

    • “I love the sneakers! You’re missed on GH!!!”
    • “Hi Kelly! I will never understand what frank valentini was thinking . YOU belong on GH you are so missed on GH . HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”
    • “My favorite GH character. Honestly, the show needs u back!! And writers do your character justice cause all they doing with Jason, I’m not a Britt fan. Sorry, not sorry. Happy Birthday.”
    • “Happy birthday, Kelly! I’d love for you to do some more Hallmark movies! Miss seeing you on tv.”
    • “Happy Birthday Kelly, miss you soo much on GH. Scout is growing up and she needs her mom.”
