‘Interview with the Vampire’ Gets Season 4 Renewal

Get ready to sink your fangs into more of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, because Variety reports that AMC Studios has announced season four at SDCC, titled Queen of the Damned.

The news arrives ahead of the season three finale this Sunday for The Vampire Lestat.

As I’m sure you can guess by the title, the new season is based on Rice’s third novel in her vampire book series, Queen of the Damned. A film of the same name was released in 2002 and starred Aaliyah as the title queen of the vampires. However, while that film combined the second and third novels, that obviously won’t be the case here.

That’s a big deal, because, though I liked the 2002 film and I loved Aaliyah’s performance, it’s a mess. Finally, the novel will get the chance to play out over a whole season, rather than be condensed into a mere ninety minutes along with a whole other novel.

Hannah Moscovitch will showrun and executive produce along with Rolin Jones and Mark Johnson.

Said Dan McDermott, Chief Content Officer of AMC Global Media and President of AMC Studios, “In The Vampire Lestat, Mark, Rolin, Hannah and this extraordinary cast delivered an unforgettable season filled with propulsive storytelling that captivated the passionate and engaged fans of this franchise. We can’t wait to continue the journey with Queen of the Damned, one of the most iconic stories in Anne Rice’s mythology, and watch our established and beloved characters confront Akasha with their world, and ours, very much hanging in the balance.”

Interview with the Vampire first premiered in 2022 as the second adaptation of Rice’s 1976 novel. Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt starred in the film, the first adaptation to give life to Rice’s moody vampire tale. Season three was rebranded as The Vampire Lestat to alert fans to the fact that it would be adapting Rice’s second book.
