Maxine Slaughter Returns in Exclusive Look at BOOK OF BUTCHER #1, Debuting This December from BOOM! Studios

Next year will mark the fifth anniversary of when readers were first introduced to the monsters (and monster slayers) of Archer’s Peak in Something is Killing the Children, and just before the end of this year, James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera (along with Miquel Muerto, AndWorld Design, Tate Brombal, Antonio Fuso, Chris Shehan, and Letizia Cadonici), are inviting readers to step back into the Slaughterverse with Book of Butcher #1. Building upon the events of last year’s Book of Slaughter #1 and following Maxine Slaughter on her journey to New Orleans to investigate House Boucher, Book of Butcher #1 will be released on December 27th from BOOM! Studios, and we’ve been provided with an exclusive look at artwork from the anticipated issue!

Below, you can see a tense meeting take place in our exclusive preview of Werther Dell’Edera’s excellent artwork (colored by Miquel Muerto) from Book of Butcher #1, and we also have a look at the amazing cover art for the new issue (including covers by Dan Mora, Werther Dell’Edera, DANI, Tamra Bonvillain, and Jae Lee with June Chung) as well as the official press release with additional details. To learn more about Book of Butcher #1 and other exciting releases, be sure to keep an eye on BOOM! Studios’ official website!

Press Release: LOS ANGELES, CA (November 22, 2023) – BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at BOOK OF BUTCHER #1. The award-winning, bestselling creative team of James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, along with colorist Miquel Muerto (Something is Killing the Children), letterer AndWorld Design (Nightwing), and special guests Tate Brombal, Antonio Fuso, Chris Shehan, and Letizia Cadonici set the stage for Year Five of the Slaughterverse with this special issue in December 2023.

Leading into the fifth year anniversary of the seminal horror series Something is Killing the Children and building on the mythos of last year’s Book of Slaughter, Maxine Slaughter steps back into the spotlight as she continues her journey from White to Black Mask.

With New Orleans as her destination, only time will tell what Maxine will uncover about House Boucher…and what she will learn about herself in the process.

BOOK OF BUTCHER #1 features main covers by Dan Mora (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and Werther Dell’Edera (Something is Killing the Children), with variants by DANI (Coffin Bound) with Tamra Bonvillain, and Jae Lee (Inhumans) with June Chung.
