Real Housewives of Orange County Season 20 Episode 3 Recap

Welcome back to the latest recap of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Last time, Carmella revealed her complicated romantic life. And Emily enjoyed a Golden Girls-style Drag Brunch birthday celebration. Here’s what happened in RHOC Season 20 Episode 3: “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”

Vicki brought the Tres Amigas back together. And Tamra spent time with her bestie, Teddi Mellencamp. Plus, Jenn had a heart-to-heart talk with her son, Greyson.

Emily and Shannon showed up to see Dr. Tim, the chiropractor. During stretching, Shannon admitted that she was “biting my tongue” during Emily’s conversation with Tamra at the Drag Brunch. While Emily felt there was some resolution, she was floored by something said at the party. “We do a ton of things with iHeart, and you haven’t been there because I wouldn’t allow it,” Tamra told Emily in a flashback.

“The intent of saying that was to remind me that she’s up here, and I’m below her,” Emily said. Then, Vicki called Shannon and invited her to lunch with Tamra. “The thing is, I’m not going to be dumb and go back,” Shannon said.

Meanwhile, Jenn and her fiancé, Ryan Boyajian, discussed her son Greyson’s recent speeding ticket. While Ryan blamed Greyson’s behavior on his father, William Pedranti, Jenn refuted that notion. “Having the kids’ dad not involved has definitely had an impact on Jenn and I’s relationship,” Ryan said in his confessional. “I believe fathers should show up in a certain manner.”

Elsewhere, Emily called Heather to discuss her birthday. In her talking head, Fancy Pants said, “I’ve been having such a great time with Jenn, but now I feel really f*cked over by her. We have a very different opinion of what friendship is.”

Then, Emily mentioned her gift from Carmella. The newbie repeatedly asked Emily at the party if she was going to open her gifts. Apparently, Carmella gave Emily a Dior clutch. Emily questioned if Carmella was trying to create “a moment.”

But wait! There was also a vibrator inside the Dior. Surprise!

It’s all about the ring in The Real Housewives of Orange County

Vicki met with Jenn and Gina. Gina asked Vicki about getting a pre-nup with her fiancé, Travis Mullen. In her talking head, Gina said, “It’s not about the fact that I make more money than Travis. It has more to do with the fact that I’ve worked incredibly hard and I want to protect myself. And I want to protect my kids.” She added that a prenup “was non-negotiable.”

In addition, Vicki was impressed with Gina. “I’ve really come to love Gina,” she noted in her confessional. “I’m super proud of her for talking about finance with me. She’s a go-getter.”

When Gina asked if Vicki and her boyfriend, Michael Smith, were engaged, her response was a bit … confusing. “Well, he says he has a ring,” Vicki explained. “He’s had it for over a year.”

Weeks earlier, when Shannon visited Puerto Vallarta, Vicki and her brother, Billy, discussed the sparkler. “He says it’s in the safe and he’s not going to give it to me until I shape up,” Vicki said. “Be a good girl, and maybe you’ll get it,” Billy joked.

“Why is he sitting on the ring?” Jenn asked. In her confessional, she called Michael “rude” for dangling the ring in front of Vicki. “For me, I would be like, ‘Screw you and your ring,’” she added.

Meanwhile, Vicki addressed Tamra and Shannon’s blowup during filming for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th. “It was really unfortunate that Tamra and Shannon had this fight at my Ultimate Girls Trip moment. I’ll walk out of a situation if it’s gonna get too toxic. But I think Tamra feeds on it,” Vicki admitted in her confessional. “It makes me scared of her.”

Jenn and her son have an emotional chat in RHOC

Emily came to Jenn’s rescue and helped her clean out her closet. According to Jenn, Greyson “hauled up in his room, and something shut down” after he received his speeding ticket. “Grey is the kid that’s full of life and light, and I notice that the lightness isn’t there,” Jenn said in her talking head. “I don’t know how to fix this.” Emily urged Jenn to spend quality time with her son.

Later, Jenn talked with Greyson. “Things have just been hard,” Greyson admitted. He also shared that his parents being divorced “impacts everything I do every day. I don’t see my dad.”

Of course, Jenn felt guilty. “Every day that he wakes up, it’s hard for him because of a decision I made,” Jenn said in her confessional. “I did that to him.”

Then, Greyson added, “There’s people that don’t like me. There’s things that are said about me.” So, Jenn asked, “Are people being unkind to you?”

Her son responded, “Yeah.” Jenn was shocked, and they both became emotional. When her son apologized, Jenn told him, “I’m the f*cking sorry one. And I love you so much, and I’m doing the best that I can.”

Tamra shares how Teddi’s illness changed her

Tamra went to visit her bestie, and Two Ts in a Pod podcast co-host, Teddi. “She got sick, and then she kind of isolated herself for a while. But now she’s kind of turned a corner,” Tamra revealed in her talking head. “So, as much time as I can spend with her, I do.”

Then, Teddi gave Tamra an update. Her doctor said that “some people, after this happens, they can’t walk. They can’t do anything. So, the fact that you’re in your situation right now, you should really be grateful.” A tearful Teddi added, “Sometimes I’m really not grateful. I start to feel like I’m letting everybody down.”

Tamra shared in her talking head how “difficult” it was watching her friend “battling cancer, going through treatment, immunotherapy once a month, her hair falling out after radiation.”

However, Teddi shared that her memory was slowly improving. “I miss my partner in crime,” Tamra told Teddi. “I don’t have the same fire,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum said. “It’ll come back,” Tamra replied.

When Teddi asked how she was coping, Tamra responded, “I don’t want to make this about me whatsoever. But to watch somebody that you love, and to hear the doctor say, ‘Like, she could have six to nine months to live.’ I finally got, like, the best friend ever with you. And then I would go around these girls, and I just felt like they didn’t care.” For Tamra, Teddi’s illness taught her that “life is just too short.”

The Tres Amigas reunite in The Real Housewives of Orange County

Well, the Tres Amigas returned to The Quiet Woman, to the same booth where Shannon once threw a plate. Ah, good times! It was painfully awkward and tense.

“I know, Shannon, that the two of us have done a lot … to hurt each other, But, I would like to get to a place and just move forward, where we can have fun and get along,” Tamra said calmly.

Well, Shannon brought it back to their altercation at that location one month prior. “You sat at a booth with a bunch of women and said I was a drunk, that I’ll never get a man, and that I had no money,” she said. “How do you think that makes me feel?”

When Tamra tried to speak, Vicki told her to answer the question. “I’m sorry that I said that. I’m sorry, but…,” Tamra said. Shannon immediately called out the word “but” in Tamra’s apology.

Then she mentioned Tamra’s comment to Emily about finally inviting her to iHeart events again. “I was joking with her,” Tamra insisted. Then, Tamra shared her OPINION. “You guys pick up on the stupidest little things and try to make it into something big,” she stated.

Finally, Tamra gave a real apology. “Sincerely, I am sorry. I am sorry for hurting you, and I’m happy that you’re in a good place right now,” she said. And Shannon agreed to “move forward and have fun and laugh.”

The Tres Amigas and their group chat are back, baby!

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Thursdays, 8/7c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock the next day.
