Rebecca Hall Fuels ‘Onslaught’ & ‘The Guest’ Sequel Speculation

Rebecca Hall Won’t Shut Down Those ‘Onslaught’ and ‘The Guest’ Sequel Theories

Ever since the first trailer for Onslaught arrived, horror fans have been convinced that Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett might finally be sneaking a follow-up to their cult classic The Guest into theaters.

The speculation isn’t exactly coming out of nowhere. Onslaught reunites Wingard with Dan Stevens, returns to New Mexico, and once again appears to involve military experiments and enhanced soldiers. The similarities have been enough to fuel months of fan theories that the upcoming action-horror film could be a stealth sequel, spiritual successor, or something in between.

Now, Rebecca Hall has added a little more fuel to the fire.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Hall was asked directly about the growing theory that Onslaught is secretly connected to The Guest.

“I say nothing,” Hall replied. “It’s not really, I don’t think. It has elements.”

Things got even more interesting when the conversation turned to Dan Stevens and his role in the film.

When asked if Stevens was sporting a German accent in Onslaught, Hall confirmed, “Yes, you did indeed. Dan is also doing a German accent in it.”

After noting that the accent seemed to throw a wrench into the Guest 2 theory, Hall’s response was… interesting:

That’s obviously not confirmation of anything, but it’s also far from the denial fans were probably expecting.

Hall went on to tease her own role in the film, saying, “I haven’t seen a cut, but I’m really excited about it because it definitely opens a door for me to enter my villain era. I had a lot of fun.”

Onslaught hits theaters on September 4, and until then, it looks like Wingard, Barrett, Stevens, and Hall are content to let the speculation continue.
