Strange New Worlds’ Sneak Peek Reveals Why Kirk Thinks Spock Needs a Hug (Exclusive)

The crew of the Enterprise is taking a shore leave in the Thursday, August 6, episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, but their time on a resort planet becomes exactly like The Hangover. TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek of Ortegas (Melissa Navia) and Scotty (Martin Quinn) trying to figure out what happened the night before by talking to Spock (Ethan Peck) … but the science officer isn’t exactly himself either.

“I apologize for the mess,” he says as he straightens out a piece on his 3D chess set.

When Ortegas asks if Pike (Anson Mount) is there, Spock tells her, “Not that I’m aware.” As for La’an (Christina Chong), “she’s on a more spirited journey than my own. As you can no doubt see, I am quite incapacitated,” he shares, confusing Ortegas and Scotty, who remarks that he seems “pretty normal.” But as Spock explains, “I’ve been hallucinating a manifestation of James Kirk. We’ve been playing board games.”

Ortegas, however, is a bit too “tense” to deal with that and has to find their captain. “I don’t remember what I did last night, I have a pounding headache, and if I want to get any enjoyment at all out of this so-called vacation, I apparently need to deliver a note to him first, so yeah, tense,” she details. Spock then adds to the list of things she needs to figure out with a detail he knows about the night before.

Once he’s sent Ortegas and Scotty to follow a possible lead on Pike, Kirk clears his throat and asks if they should order fries. “Do you think my seeing you here has deeper meaning?” Spock wonders. Watch his reasoning as well as Kirk giving him a hug and Spock’s reaction.

This season has seen Ortegas and Scotty butting heads on how each is doing things on the ship, so of course they’re forced to work together to piece together the events of the night before. However that goes, it should be very, very entertaining.
