Today Craig Melvin Calls Out Martha Stewart For Blaming Costume Story On Him

Martha Stewart has recently been addressing the backlash she has faced concerning a controversial Halloween post. Since then, she has even named another media personality when explaining what may have happened. Since then, she has explained what she meant by the share.

Martha Stewart Found Herself The Subject Of Quite A Few Viral Halloween Stories This Year

Stewart recently came under fire for a Halloween costume shared on social media. She appeared with a dirty face, wearing tattered clothes, and holding up a sign saying that she was hungry. The image was included in a carousel post promoting Stewart’s QVC candles. At the time, the image was criticized as being insulting to the homeless community.

This followed a previous holiday moment from the lifestyle mogul. Stewart appeared on Today during a segment where she helped prepare a seasonal cake. During the moment, co-anchor Craig Melvin accidentally spilled chocolate ganache on her white pants. However, she laughed the mistake off in the moment.

Stewart Apologized Over The Story & For ‘Dragging’ Melvin Into The Backlash

During a recent appearance on Today, Melvin then asked her why he was “dragged into” the story. Stewart admitted, “I was making a joke, I was giving a talk and I just made a joke that you had spilled chocolate on me and I couldn’t wear that costume [I planned on wearing.]”

Martha also assured Craig, “I don’t blame you at all. It was a joke that I said I blamed you. It was stupid. And then I, tone deaf or whatever I was, according to my grandson, I was tone deaf. I dressed up.” She also clarified, “It wasn’t your fault about the chocolate. I made a mistake. I was stupid. What else can I say?”

Melvin also asked Stewart what lessons she had learned from the story. She expressed, “Pay closer attention to social issues. Be aware. I’m aware of all those social issues, as you can imagine. And I care desperately about all the problems facing us.” She continued, “I’m so sorry. And I hope that my followers and my fans and the rest of America forgives me for doing something that was not meant in any way to be a bad thing.”
