Things aren’t looking rosy for Snow White this morning, with a modest $3.5 million from Thursday preview screenings. That doesn’t completely rule out a respectable opening—family films don’t usually generate massive business on Thursday—but it does make a “good” opening a distant prospect.
Here’s our model’s baseline prediction for Snow White, and its revised estimate now we have preview numbers:
$40 million is still doable, if young audiences turn out in droves over the weekend, but that’s looking like that’s the top-end of expectations right now.
No preview numbers were announced for The Alto Knights, so we’ll have to go with our baseline prediction for that movie
Here’s what the model thinks the top 10 will look like.
Given that we were hoping for something closer to $60 million plus from Snow White a few months ago, this is looking like a dismal weekend. The best we can say at this point is that it’s not quite as dismal as the past few weeks.
