What Happened to Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Sign After Cancellation? New Location Revealed

    What To Know

    • The sign for Stephen Colbert’s late-night show was auctioned off in April.
    • The unlikely new location for the sign was revealed via the restaurant owner who purchased it.

Ahead of the final episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in May, the massive sign boasting the name of the late-night talk show was auctioned off $102,100. Jeff Douek, a restaurant owner, purchased the lighting fixture and took to Instagram on June 29 to reveal its new home.

The sign, which is 12 feet long, 8 feet and 6 inches high, and 9 feet deep, per Daily Beast, now sits atop Douek’s restaurant WeHo Bistro in West Hollywood.

Douek showed off photos of the sign’s new location and also a video of the installation process. “For more than a decade, millions of people welcomed Stephen Colbert into their evenings through The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The iconic sign that welcomed viewers to so many unforgettable nights has now found a new home right here in the heart of West Hollywood,” he shared.

The captioned continued, “When we learned the sign was being auctioned to benefit World Central Kitchen, we knew it should remain somewhere it could continue to be seen, appreciated, and shared with everyone.” Douek also wrote, “Thank you, Stephen Colbert, for the laughter, intelligence, kindness, and magic you’ve shared with all of us over the years.”

The sign will remain on the restaurant’s roof for “approximately two weeks” then move “to its permanent home on the wall of WeHo Bistro, where everyone will be able to enjoy it for years to come.” Douek urged fans to come by and take photos with the sign.

Colbert announced the auctioning of the sign on an episode of The Late Show, telling viewers, “Buy this, and, like me, you can have The Late Show hanging over your head for the rest of your life.” His final episode aired on May 21 after CBS canceled the talk show following parent company Paramount’s merger with Skydance Media in 2025.
