Maria Bartiromo was reportedly already plotting her next television move after Fox News abruptly ended her long-running stint. Sources claimed the veteran journalist had spoken with CBS News chief Bari Weiss about a possible role.
The potential move could put Bartiromo on one of television’s biggest stages. According to insiders, 60 Minutes was among the destinations discussed as the 58-year-old sought an immediate broadcasting comeback.

Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice reported that Bartiromo and Weiss had already discussed the possibility. “Maria and Bari have already spoken,” a television insider said. “Maria isn’t sitting around licking her wounds. She’s moving fast, and 60 Minutes is absolutely in the mix.”
The source said Bartiromo wanted to remain “a major player” after Fox News Media suddenly ended her 12-year run. Fox confirmed her departure in a brief statement, thanking her for more than 12 years of work. The exit followed allegations that Bartiromo had shared confidential Fox editorial guidance about coverage involving President Donald Trump. The reported guidance concerned unproven claims surrounding the 2020 election.
Still, insiders suggested CBS could see value in bringing her aboard. Bartiromo had built extensive relationships across finance, politics and business during her career.
“Maria brings something Bari understands is valuable: access,” the insider said. They added that she could reach “CEOs, billionaires, political power players and Wall Street titans.” Bartiromo’s departure also sparked speculation about a possible White House role. The White House press secretary position remained vacant after Karoline Leavitt’s departure, making Bartiromo’s political connections an obvious talking point.
Vice President J.D. Vance, however, played down that possibility when asked whether she could be considered. “I don’t know man. No, I don’t think so,” he said. Meanwhile, Trump publicly praised Bartiromo after her Fox exit. He called her a “total professional” and “a true warrior,” adding that her fans would not be happy in a Truth Social post.
Eric Trump also called her “the best in the business” and praised her work ethic. For Bartiromo, though, the message appeared clear: she wanted another major platform. “Maria believes she still belongs at the biggest table in television,” the insider said. “And there is no bigger table than 60 Minutes.”
