Katy Perry had some special company while traveling the world on her Life of Katy Tour. Her daughter Daisy Dove joined her on the road, giving the young girl a chance to experience life around her mother’s performances. Perry recently opened up about their time together and shared details about how they stayed connected backstage.
Katy Perry shares sweet backstage tradition with daughter Daisy while on tour
Perry said Daisy, now 6, joined her for parts of the tour and became a familiar presence backstage. The singer described her daughter as her “road dog” and “co-pilot” as they moved between different cities and venues.
“When she’s on the road, she comes out for half the show or a little bit less than half the show,” Perry told PEOPLE. Daisy would dance and spend time with the performers during the shows. Daisy also developed a special backstage routine of her own. Perry revealed that one of the crew members had a personalized road case made for her daughter. It was filled with glitter pens, stickers, and other supplies.
Daisy would open the case backstage and spend time crafting and coloring. “She was coloring so much that actually we started framing each picture that she would make,” Perry said. The tradition continued throughout the tour. Perry explained that her team would frame Daisy’s artwork from the previous day and put it up backstage before she arrived.
“Every day I’d come into the room, and my girls helped set up backstage. They would frame the previous day’s picture, and it was cozy and amazing,” Perry said. The singer said she felt proud that Daisy could watch her work and see her mother’s purpose in it.
“She’s seeing her mother in her purpose, and that’s good for her; she sees her mom being strong,” Perry said. The sweet backstage tradition gave Daisy a special place in her mother’s busy tour life while creating a meaningful experience they could share together.
