Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 5 started off with a bang and Andy Cohen couldn’t be happier. One dispute left him especially pleased.
Meredith Marks found herself bickering with Whitney Rose over the latter’s new bath bomb launch. As Meredith put it, “Everybody knows the bath is my thing.” Meredith made things confrontational when she asked, “What is your problem with me?”
Whitney tried to insist there was nothing personal (even though her co-star might say otherwise). “You’re reading way too much into this,” Whitney told her castmate. She clearly was not in the mood for a dispute. But their petty squabble entertained viewers nonetheless. So, what did Andy love about this bit of drama?
Andy Cohen loves the RHOSLC drama and applauds the “passion and energy” of SLC’s Housewives
On SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the man himself expressed his joy over the RHOSLC Season 5 premiere. “Last night was the big Salt Lake City Housewives premiere. It was great. People are activated,” he said. He added, “I love it that the whole first episode took place at one all-cast event.”
Naturally, he had to bring up the bath bomb drama. “You know I love the bath bomb dispute between Meredith and Whitney.” As for why that struck him so particularly, Andy explained, “In my universe, what I like my housewives fighting over is seating assignments, bath bombs, bows on cakes. The more frivolous, the better.”
Andy asserted that Housewives would apply the same “passion and energy … to an argument about a bath bomb” as they would to “A lawsuit. Something ugly. Adultery.” In reality, the Housewives walk a tightrope. Their disputes can’t be too frivolous. Otherwise, why should viewers care? But levity from time to time is also necessary, on top of a controversy-free environment.
