UK public sympathizes with Meghan Markle over Thomas Markle’s allegations
According to GB News, reporters asked people in London whether the allegations had generated sympathy for the Duchess of Sussex. Margaret said, “I do feel sorry for her,” adding that she wants Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to have a normal life. Tom said he would not judge Meghan through the lens of her father, noting that she is an adult with her own say in the matter.
Karim said he understood Meghan’s wish to protect her children, although the allegations remain unsubstantiated. Doreen said she would not necessarily describe herself as feeling sorry for Meghan but could imagine how difficult the situation might be from her perspective.
Thomas Markle Jr. made the unproven allegations last week, claiming his father possessed child sexual abuse images. Investigators haven’t brought charges or confirmed any guilt. Philippine interior minister Jonvic Remulla said that a forensic investigation will conclude within a week and provide a “definitive picture.”
In a statement to GB News, Meghan said she is “deeply distressed” and that her thoughts are with harm’s potential victims. She said someone sent a letter to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection in 2018 and later shared it with her. It detailed troubling and disturbing allegations against her father, and authorities assured her they were investigating them. She also said she barred her father from seeing her children to protect them.
Markle Sr. has reportedly denied the allegations, calling them “sick lies.” “I could never do what I’m being accused of,” he said. He added that he is shocked, hurt, and upset that his son is making the accusations. No criminal charges have been filed against Markle Sr., and all claims remain unverified allegations under review by law enforcement.
