Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly unafraid of waging a war against the royal family. For those unversed, King Charles issued a letter via the Lord Chamberlain clarifying that the Sussexes will remain private citizens in the UK. Additionally, the letter stated that they cannot carry out royal engagements or use their royal titles. Harry and Meghan’s representative released a statement saying they were “surprised” by the letter.

Sources say Prince Harry and Meghan Markle believe silence failed them before

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly declared an unofficial war against the royal family. Royal insiders reportedly are increasingly concerned that Harry and Meghan are publicly challenging Palace statements, the recent example being King Charles’ letter clarifying their royal status.

According to a royal source cited by Rob Shuter, the Sussexes are reportedly unafraid of further conflict with the royal family and believe they have little to lose by speaking out. The royal source stated: “Harry and Meghan feel completely unleashed. They believe silence failed them before, so now their attitude is: if the Palace says something they don’t like, they will answer. They’re no longer afraid of the consequences.”

The source also claimed that Charles has no interest in turning the monarchy into a “reality show.” According to the report, the King believes it would be futile to counter every attack, justify every accusation, or respond to every criticism from the Sussexes. The report claims that Charles intends to avoid publicly engaging with Harry and Meghan, while William is portrayed as taking a firmer position.

According to the source, the Prince of Wales is particularly protective of the monarchy and his family and would be less willing to ignore public challenges from the Sussexes. The future king does not want war, but he doesn’t want Harry and Meghan to treat the monarchy as a “punching bag”. If driven to the edge, he will give the Sussexes a befitting response. A source concluded by stating: “Harry and Meghan want a response, Charles believes the most powerful response may be giving them none.”
