One of the alumni from The Real Housewives of Orange County recently got fans talking after making a comment on social media. The conversation even got fans talking about the star’s time on the show. This also wasn’t the first time the star’s comments sparked controversy.
A Cast Member From The Real Housewives of Orange County Appeared In A ‘Random’ Sighting Online
The Real Housewives of Orange County premiered on Bravo back in 2006. Considered the founding installment of the Real Housewives series, the series is credited with launching one of Bravo’s most famous franchises.
The series wrapped up its eighteenth season back in November, with Season 19 set to premiere this upcoming July. Naturally, fans have seen a variety of cast members come and go on the show.

Kelly Dodd first joined the series during its eleventh season. She made her final appearance on the show with the fifteenth season.
Recently, fans took to social media after noticing a comment shared by Dodd. As one fan noted, “Random Kelly Dodd sighting on Instagram.” They continued, “Just surfing the ‘gram and came across a random Kelly Dodd comment… she’s a weird one for sure.”

In the post, which appeared to be an Instagram Story, a post read, “Do all lesbians drive Subarus?” In the comments, an account connected to Dodd appeared to write, “If it’s not a Lesbo, it’s a liberal.” A commenter replied, “My bf didn’t know this was a thing!! It’s been known.” Another commenter elsewhere wrote, “Lesbians or liberals.”
This isn’t the first time Dodd’s comments have sparked controversy. As reported by Us Weekly, Dodd issued a public apology back in 2021 after sparking controversy with a Cameo video. At the time, she noticed a user’s pronoun in a video request.
Dodd shared, “Jennifer! They switched up this Cameo bulls–t, right, and [it says] this is Jennifer, she/her. I don’t get this. You’re born a girl or a boy. I don’t get it. You’re Jennifer. I’m sorry, I don’t give a f–k.”
The Recent Comment Got Fans Talking About Kelly Dodd’s Previous Time On The Bravo Series
Dodd later issued an apology on social media. She shared, “I realized I have a habit of offending people and apparently I’ve done it again. Here’s the thing, I’ve been doing Cameos for two years now and I never saw the pronoun thing before. This was the first time I saw a reference of he/him/she/they/them.”
In the comments to the more recent share, many fans thought the conversation was taking politics out of context. As one fan shared, “Imagine being so fragile you don’t buy a genuinely great car brand because you think it’s ‘lesbian’ or ‘liberal.’ It’s a f****** inanimate object it doesn’t have a political view or sexual orientation. It’s not like Subaru owner is active in American politics like some car brands.”

Other commenters also felt that the conversation was ridiculous. This also caused fans to comment on Dodd’s time on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Some comments included:
- “Aww, Kelly. I miss the days of her calling someone a c*** in an elegant sushi restaurant, sending Heather Dubrow into an existential panic. This Kelly ain’t it and she can stay off my screen.”
- “She reminds me of the saying ‘it’s better to keep silent and let other think you’re an idiot rather than open your mouth and prove it.’”
- “She keeps proving why no one is asking for her return.”
- “What a juvenile ‘discussion’ in the first place—perfect for Kelly!”
- “She’s the worst housewife I’ve watched in real time. I stopped watching new episodes of OC because of her, and I had watched it faithfully since 2008.”
- “Like driving a vehicle that is the same make as one of the greatest female athletes of all time is something to be ashamed of!”
- “I’m a bisexual liberal and drive a Subaru forester lmao.”
