Southern Hospitality Season 3, Episode 11 Recap: The Reunion

It’s time to unpack this season on Southern Hospitality Season 3, Episode 11, “Reunion.” In the finale, Emmy throws a prom for Will and invites all the others. Brad and TJ gathered more information about the cheating rumors. Meanwhile, Will called Austin’s girlfriend’s brother, whom he assumed was the source. When they attempted a confrontation about the rumors, Emmy and Will walked away. Maddi and Joe were crowned Prom King and Queen, but Will claimed to have information that would activate her.

On the Southern Hospitality Season 3 reunion, Will doesn’t join the rest of the cast in the clubhouse. But he dropped a bomb on Maddi the night before. Emmy is left to fend for herself when they discuss her relationship woes. TJ isn’t in a great place with her or with Joe. We get an update on Grace and Maddi’s friendship and find out why Brad friend-zoned Lake. Season 3 breakout Michols has some emotional updates about how his family reacted to him discussing his sexuality on television.

    What was Will’s bombshell?

Will is a no-show at the reunion stage, choosing to stay backstage. Emmy says he couldn’t engage with the group anymore, but he hasn’t officially quit the show. Maddi and Joe are bothered by this because Will went to their hotel room the night before and dropped a bomb. Emmy and Will revealed to Maddi that Trevor never cheated with Sammie. She claims Brad made the whole thing up.

Brad explains that Sammie came up to him before filming and claimed she made out with Trevor. It wasn’t until later that Sammie admitted that didn’t actually happen. At last year’s reunion, Joe sleeping with making out with Luann took over everyone’s attention instead. Austin calls out the timing, pointing out that Will did the same thing at prom. When the others call it calculating, Emmy asks why she can’t be calculating, why it’s always Will. Maddi is shaken up by this and says she feels gaslit. She knew the relationship with Trevor had to end anyway. But she had so much guilt and got so much hate over this last year, and it wasn’t even the truth.

TJ and Joe are on bad terms again

When discussing their relationship, Joe and Maddi bring up that TJ said “Once a cheater always a cheater.” Joe maintains he’s not a cheater. In fact, Joe is angry about a lot of what TJ said. TJ maintains he didn’t go around town telling people Joe is gay, but the other cast members claim he did. He says it was more that the people he told repeated it to other people and so on. Grace Lilly cuts in to say that she’s “scissored a woman,” but she’d be mad if said woman went around outing her as gay when she’s not.

Joe also undermines their moment again. TJ gets super emotional, saying this isn’t fair when they know what he’s gone through. Leva and Brad cut in to explain that TJ’s had moments with so-called straight guys who kept him as their little secret. They add that TJ already had feelings for Joe, and they were best friends, so it’s understandable if he got his hopes up and was far more rocked by the moment than Joe. Michols adds his own experience of how it takes a toll having moments with straight guys who keep you a secret. Andy commends Joe and TJ for their bar conversation. And he says he was proud to see TJ and Michols’ conversation on Bravo.

Grace is up to a lot these days, including a Burning Man-inspired clothing line. She and Maddi are on much better terms. Joe even apologizes for saying Grace used Maddi because he’s seen so much progress. Grace is sorry for sleeping with Oisin and for saying Maddi wasn’t her friend. However, she still thinks Maddi sucked Oisin’s d*ck (or something). Maddi admitted she had a moment with Oisin last season, but it wasn’t anything beyond that. Grace also wants to work at Republic again. The reason she left was because of the drama with Eva. We’ll have to see if she comes back to Republic by next season.

    Michols gives an emotional update

Michols reveals that his aunt, sister, and brother have all reached out since the show. However, things are still bad with his mom. She was angry that he kissed a man on TV. Michols reveals that when he watched the screener with Preston, he sobbed. He was worried about how he’d be perceived. But he’s felt so much support since. He and Preston just celebrated their six-month anniversary, and are going out to dinner with his aunt and brother. Andy, who is wonderfully supportive and proud of Michols, tells him that’s a big win. The cast emphasizes to Michols that he is so loved by them.

What happened between Brad and Lake?

Lake is more comfortable not discussing her sexuality with her parents. She says they’re supportive, just don’t want to hear about their kid’s sex life.

As for her and Brad, Lake accuses him of having a girlfriend during their showmance. He was seeing the woman who is now his girlfriend at the time. But he says they weren’t official yet, and were both hooking up with other people. Still, he and Lake didn’t go beyond that Vegas kiss.

    Emmy’s in the hot seat

Emmy claims Will couldn’t do the reunion because of his mental health. But what about hers? She admits that Will was wrong to say those things about her. But she still has issues with the way it was brought up. TJ was hurt she didn’t tell him that Will admitted what he did. He claims they could’ve talked it out.

Emmy also says she would’ve been more receptive if TJ came up to her and brought up the cheating rumors one-on-one. Everyone else doubts that. When Emmy breaks down again, Lake utters, “Girl.” Emmy tells her to shut up. As she cries about how hard it is to have your relationship judged on a show, Grace chimes in, “Maybe this isn’t the career for you.” Lake and Mia appear to co-sign.

Leva tries to get through to Emmy by saying she can’t take on all of Will’s stress for him. She uses the oxygen mask metaphor. I’m not sure it got through to Emmy, but I applaud Leva for trying. She also points out that only a few people believe the cheating rumor. When Andy asked about it, Brad, Austin, Lake, and TJ raised their hands.

Molly says she sees so much potential in Emmy. She can tell Emmy is a strong woman, and would like to see that side of her come out more. She thinks it can if Emmy mends her friendships with the group. Still, she doesn’t know if she can be friends with TJ and Brad again. Andy tries to reassure Emmy that the group cares about her. And that’s how we end the season.

Southern Hospitality is available to stream on Peacock.
